Local storage PC keeps going offline

I have the LogMeIn Backup utliity running on a Win 2003 Std Svr and a XP Pro desktop. I've enabled the XP client as the local storage pc. But, the local storage PC keeps going offline and I can't seem to find the cause. The PC is always on, connected to the network, internet, and the utliity is running in the background. But, every once in a while (once in 4-5 days but no pattern), the local storage pc goes offline and the server can't find it.

Any help would me much apprecaited. Thanks!

RE: Local storage PC keeps going offline

I have come across this problem too, always seems to be if the internet connection goes down, it does not always seem to be re-establishing a link with the logmein servers, normally restarting the loginme backup services will suffice to re-establish this connection.

Let me know if that makes sense.

RE: Local storage PC keeps going offline

Yep, same has been happening to me today.

In frustration I uninstalled Logmein Backup from one of the problem computers hoping to reinstall. But now it wont let me re-download the software, tells me I dont have any free subscriptions

Is there a direct link to the software where I can re-download it from?

Re: RE: Local storage PC keeps going offline

I had the same problem:  backups failed with the log entry "Backup - Unable to connect to the Storage PC." and the console showing that the storage PC was offline even though I knew it was not as I could ping it from the machine where the backup was failing.

This is how I solved it.

First I tried:

1) Re-booting both machines - still the same problem.

2) Running updates - both machines were on the latest level

.. but that didn't work, then I tried....

3) Restarting the LogMeIn services using Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services and then stopping an starting the 3 listed LogMeInBackup services

Then the storage Pc appeared again on the machine to be backed up.

I guess that it was the restart of the 'LogMeIn Backup Storage PC Service' on the Storage PC that did the trick.
