Logmein Backup very slow transfer of files

How do I get a better performance with Logmein Backup?

I have tried for almost 2 months to make a remote backup of ca. 250GB I have not been able to succeed.

The transfer rate is most of the time below 10KB which means that the total backup window is almost 1 month.

My internet acces at the host site is 50/5 (50 download, 5 upload), at the “guest” site 15/15 (15 download, 15 upload)

I have other “guests” uploading at ca. 50KB on average. These guests have weaker upload than the 15/15. I belive that their upload is around 1mbit.

I have now tested the server first tried to back up to a mapped network drive, I have turned of Encryption, messed about file compression turning it off and choosing different block sizing. The results are very poor maybe around 50KB . When I do a normal Explorer copy for the one server to the other I get 1,5->2mb in transfer rate. The Servers are Win2008 HP Proliants with 8 and 10 GB ram and the switches are HP procurve so the hardware should be ok.

I have now done a test to backup a 1,5GB folder from one disk set (raid 1) to another disk set (raid 1) on the same server and I am getting around 20KB on average which means that the backup is finished in +3 hours.  There is no heavy load on the server. When I do a normal Explorer copy of the 1,5 GB the transfer rate is 10-15MB a second. There is no antivirus interfering on this fileserver.

How do I get a better performance with Logmein Backup?

Re: Logmein Backup very slow transfer of files

I doubt this is the problem but something you can check is go into the preferences and see if you have the bandwith settings set to something low on the source computer. If that doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling on both machines.

Re: Logmein Backup very slow transfer of files

I have the same problem....occasionally--VERY occasionally--I'll get a 10-12MBit/sec transfer.  Sadly though, it usually starts out at around 3-5 MBit/sec and falls off at around 25% completion to 250K/sec for the rest of the transfer.  That really sux.  Using File manager to do it on LMi Pro.  Problem is identical with comparable computers, both 8GB RAM quad core Intel boxes, one 20 ft away and one 10 miles away.  Same problem two computers...Any suggestions?
