LogMeIn disconnecting me

Hi there,
I am using LogMeIn Central on a Mac using Safari 5.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.7.
Whenever I try to remotely control another Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.7, LogMeIn will successfully connect me for about 10 or 15 seconds, and then it will immediately disconnect me. This happens with almost every single Mac that I try to control remotely.
But if I wait 2 seconds, I can go back into LogMeIn Central and reconnect to that machine again just fine. So it's a very strange problem.
To summarize, this is what happens:
1. I log into LogMeIn Central, then remotely connect to a Mac.
2. I successfully connect to the remote Mac.
3. In less than 15 seconds, I am forcefully disconnected from the remote Mac by LogMeIn.
4. I wait 2 seconds, go back to my LogMeIn Central screen, and I am able to successfully connect again to the exact same Mac.
5. This time, LogMeIn does NOT forcefully disconnect me.
This happens almost 100% of the time, with a large variety of different Mac computers.
Any ideas as to what is going on?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: LogMeIn disconnecting me

Yes....

The LogmeIn daemon process is crashing and then immediately restarting...causing these annoying discinnects.  Check the Console crash logs on your client systems and you will see the crash for yourself.  This symptom has been occurring since the LogMeIn client release on February 11, 2011.

LogMeIn tech support is aware of the issue...but has done nothing to resolve it.  I also paid for the LogMeIn Central subscription...and this lack of resolution will force me to not renew when my subscription comes up.

Re: LogMeIn disconnecting me

Thank you so much for this information. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I have found that LogMeIn's tech support has been the absolute WORST TECH SUPPORT that I have EVER dealt with in over 22 years in the software industry. I will NOT be renewing my LogMeIn Central subscription either. Which competing service will you be switching to instead?

I have now discovered almost 35 bugs in the Mac version of LogMeIn, and I have reported almost 100% of them to LogMeIn over the last 2 years, and yet their engineers have yet to fix EVEN ONE OF THESE BUGS.

LogMeIn sucks, and their Mac software is a complete joke.

I hate LogMeIn, and I can't wait to switch to a completely different product altogether. Good riddance, LogMeIn.

Thanks,

Scott

Re: LogMeIn disconnecting me

They finally released a new mac client version (4.0.0.1940) and it still has the infamous disconnect issue...unreal...my bet is that this will never be fixed...at least not in my lifetime....

Re: LogMeIn disconnecting me

We will never see this problem get fixed. The overriding problem with LogMeIn as a company is that they only have 1 guy working on the Mac version of the product, and he only throws in a few minutes per month working on it. He doesn't even really understand how the Mac works, as you can tell by their instruction manuals, where they call the "menu bar" the "Finder bar". Besides this one poor guy, LogMeIn is comprised of 100% Windows-based machines and 100% Windows-based engineers.

Re: LogMeIn disconnecting me

I like LogMeIn and get frustrated with the bugs myself.  I demoed RapidAssist with a sales guy and it was pretty nice but I decided it wasn't different enough, or LMI wasn't bad enough to go through switching 150ish PC's over.

That's the balance to me.  At which point do I say enough is enough and justify moving my whole remote system to a new platform.  Time will tell.  If the updates flowed a little more quickly around here, I wouldn't have even demoed other solutions.

Re: LogMeIn disconnecting me

One other thing about RapidAssist, it's for support not remote control so you can't log in to an unattended PC.  I forgot about that.  That's probably why I didn't buy it in the end.
