Freezing after connection. Is this an LMI system problem?

I see that a few other users seem to be having the same problem that I have experienced over the past couple of days.... after connecting to the target computer LMI freezes after the first mouse click. If I disconnect and reconnect it is apparent that the mouse click from the previous connection has been actioned but at the next mouse click LMI freezes again  and so on and so on.  It seems from the number of users encountering the same problem that it may be system-related. Can anybody assist on this. Rgds Morgs - Australia

RE: Freezing after connection. Is this an LMI system problem?

I am experience the same issue.  I will log into the remote PC and immediately after connecting, it freezes and than kicks me out.  I am than not able to connect to the pc until I reboot it.

This has occured several times and is not a function of the pc's. (It has happened several times with various log in or LMI remote pc's)

The only thing I can attribute as a common issue is that each of these machines have the newer software that has been downloaded over the last several weeks.

DennisDGOO:

No, I don't think you are experiencing THE SAME issue.  MOORGS says that his computer freezes "after the first mouse click".  You state that your computer "immediately after connecting, it freezes and then kicks me out".

This sounds like two different symptoms.  If I am correct, these are two different issues.  The good news is that your issue is usually easily solved.

All of the machines I access have the newer software, and I don't have any problem.  Thousands of others are also using the software without a problem.  I don't think your problem is caused by a problem with LMI software.

Your problem is probably a firewall or virus checker that is kicking you off immediately.  Disable ALL firewalls and virus checkers on the computer you are trying to access.  This includes Windows XP SP2 built in firewall.

You can probably access the computer now without getting kicked off.  Turn the programs back on, one by one, and see which one stops you from staying connected.  Then, you have to exclude LogMeIn from that program - tell it to ALLOW LogMeIn.

RE: Freezing after connection. Is this an LMI system problem?

I AM having the exact same problem as Morgs - I connect to the remote machine perfectly well.
The remote user can see my mouse movements as well as any action I take
(ie: I can click on the start button and 'they see the menu' but I don't.)
I can continue to click around the screen but see NO change in the display.
I also see no change in display when the remote user clicks anything.

If I log off then log on again to their machine I can see the results of any previous mouse actions but again the screen freezes after the first click (wether it is done by me or the remote user).

Both using WinXP SP2.

Yes, it does sound like you do have the exact same problem as Morgs.

Unfortunately, I have no solution for Morgs, so I have no solution for you either.

Maybe someone else can come up with some suggestions ?

You could submit a request for help from LMI support, or give their customer service line a call.

That's the best I have for you.

RE: Freezing after connection. Is this an LMI system problem?

I was having the exact same problem.  I tried several remote computers to try and connect to a LMI computer behind a SonicWall router and it kept on freezing after the first mouse click.  After rebooting the SonicWall router it appears that the problem has gone away.

@quickcel, davewall, Morgs;

It sounds like you're double-NATed, or running through multiple routing devices.  LogMeIn can have trouble communicating through this kind of network configuration.  Easiest fix would be to configure one of the routers as a simple bridge (basically, disabling the router function).

@DennisDG00;

Our developers are aware of this issue, and we should have a fix for this shortly.  In the meantime, try switching to Java mode.  Go to Preferences > Remote Control Settings, and change the Default Remote Control method from ActiveX to Java.

After the restart of the router I started having the same problems again.  Jeremy - I took your advice and switched over to Java and things seem to be working fine now.  Thanks for the help!

RE: Freezing after connection. Is this an LMI system problem?

I finally found a way to use ActiveX instead of Java when the remote/target computer freezes up after Remote Control connection and posted the instructions on my website:

Hope this can help other people out!
