I have a feeling that the remote computer IS going to sleep, or into hibernation mode. You may have to go into the CMOS settings of the computer to shut this off, and hopefully, that will eliminate your problem.
(DISCLAIMER: I am NOT an employee of LMI, nor do I have any financial concern in LMI. I am strictly a HAPPY USER of LMI products. I am using PC version and XP SP2. Other systems or versions may act different than described above.)
I've turned off any possible sleep setting available, including hard disk shut off, usb turn off etc. and the problem seems to be solved, so far at least. I haven't had the problem again since changing the settings. Thanks a lot for your help.
I am an IT Professional and I use the LMI Free to manage my smaller clients. I get this message with 100% of the comuters in my account. 4 of which are located in my shop here and they are always on, fully powered and all sleep functions are disabled (especially on the NICs).
The problem is not with the remote PC, but rather something with the LMI account. I used a clients LMI account, larger client, and was able to remote into all of their servers with no problem.
I wish I could get them to answer the stupid phone so I could post a solution to this problem.......
Ok here is the problem I was experiencing and it may be the same one others are.
Once upon a time, in a happy world of money flowing in constantly and my needs for serves like Logmein ITReach, I had several paid subscriptions. With the down turn in the economy, my workload easing up and my income decreasing; I cancelled all of their paid serves when the renewal came up. Well, I told them to cancel them anyway. Apparently, they kept those paid accounts like and had banned my account after several months of the charges being declined.
Soooo, if any of you have had paid services associated with your account you are having issues with; I recommend you call them to get it resolved. It could very well be a billing issue on their end causing the issues....
I had a subcription to LogMeInPro for two years. I was not once ever able to connect to a host without restarting the Logmein on the host. I tried from different PCs and to different hosts from different domains - same issue. I attempted to cancel my subscription after support was unable to find a solution.... finally my subscription simply ran out. In the meantime, I started using the free version and lo and behold, it was the same issue. Of course I checked the PC power save and bios settings on both the hosts and my Pcs to ensure nothing was falling asleep, and uninstalled rebooted and on reinstall - same problem. Tried another PC same issue. Changed up my laptop for another then connected to a client in yet another domain, same issue.
Finally I found the workaround for both the paid subscritpion or the free version was to go into the remote office and take LMI 'offline' then 'online' again and call someone remote and ask them to reconnect to the host. This would work as long as there was not more than a minute idle time on my laptop at the office while I was driving back to the office, so usually I found it disconnected again if staff could not maintain it consistently til I got back.
Only if I had someone remain at the office, while i drove in to the remote office, disable\reenable LMI and the have the office connect to the host and continue to move the mouse until I got back to the office to takeover - then it would work.
Just a note that my LMI application preferences are set not to idle for over 2 hours, as it takes me an hour and half to get from the remnote office (host) to the office.
It's gotten to the point that rather than waste valuable project time that I can't charge back to the host, I just driust drive to the host and stay there to work, then make the 1.5 hour drive back when
LMI works great when it works, but we need consistency. Our business reputation relies it. Is there another product out there that is (generally) consistently reliable, and as good as LMI when LMI is working?
