Re: HIDE Menu Bar Icon: Mac

I guess it doesn't look like you will be receiving an update about this very soon. As a matter of fact, I think they even don't care about the issue. I wrote many times to the support address to figure out a way of resolving this, but the person who responded me didn't know anything about Mac, and I have to write about 5 times (no kidding or exaggeration) to make her understand what was all about.

Terrible customer support, really.

Re: HIDE Menu Bar Icon: Mac

Tip to disable the menubar:

Kill the menubar process with Activity monitor, or in terminal this would be:

ps acx | grep 'LogMeIn Hamachi Menubar'

kill -9 2697

Use a tool like Lingon to disable the user agent com.logmein.hamachimb, and rename the application it launches to /Applications/LogMeIn Hamachi/LogMeIn Hamachi Menubar.disabled.

Re: HIDE Menu Bar Icon: Mac

I've managed to 'hide' the LogMeIn icon from the menu bar, heres how:

1. Download the following file. It contains a 1x1 pixel, transparent icon that will replace the current logmein icon.
2. With Finder selected, press SHIFT + COMMAND + G (or Go > Go to Folder)
3. In the 'Go to the folder' drop-down, paste '/Library/Application Support/LogMeIn/bin/LogMeInGUI.app/Contents/Resources' (without the quotes)
4. A 'Resources' folder should appear, you'll see two files that need to be replaced: 'lmi_mac_online.png' and 'lmi_mac_offline.png'
5. Unzip the downloaded file which contains 4 files.
6. Drag and drop all 4 files to the 'Resources' folder, you'll need to authenticate the files.
7. Exit and reopen logmein, you'll see there is no icon, but a tiny gap that is clickable!

Results: Hidden and Selected

(yes I know it's 1AM)

Re: HIDE Menu Bar Icon: Mac

Thanks for the tip but honestly......this is absoulte insanity!!!!

How can you not have an option to hide the menu bar!!!!!!!

How can LogMe In be so slow in response to this.

I am with everyone in agreement there is not reason that I need to have that in my Menu Bar space.

Completely Disappointed

SOLUTION FOUND!!!

SOLUTION FOUND!

Just had success with this issue!

Open a Finder window and go to Library > Application Support > LogMeIn.

There you will find a Command Prompt Uninstaller. Don't be afraid of it.

Open in, and when prompted, type in your password (if you don't have one, just hit the return key).

And Bob's your uncle! The folder plus the stupid tray icon will be ejected from your system!

This was the last trace of LogMeIn found on my computer. May it finally rest in peace!

Hope this helps guys!

Re: SOLUTION FOUND!!!

I unfortunately don't have the logmein folder in Application Support, I tried uninstalling weeks ago (obviously unsuccessfully) and can't get this stupid icon out of my menu bar. When I click on the icon it offers the option to click only 'Open Logmein' but when I click it nothing happens.

Please help :)

Re: SOLUTION FOUND!!!

Hey,

I was having similar problems with removing the LogMeIn Menu Bar icon. I had success with just redownloading the LogMeIn for Mac, running the UninstallerPlugin first, then the Uninstaller itself.

Hope this works for you.

Cheers.

Re: HIDE Menu Bar Icon: Mac

+1 - i'd like to see the menu bar icon go too. matter of fact, mine keeps freezing on 10.6.8 so it doesn't work anyway. Just shows the beachball when i hover over it.
