When I sent a message to LMI support inquiring about Ignition for the Droid, the response was to look at the Labs page.  That makes no mention of Ignition for Droid.

Does anyone know if GoToMyPc offers something for the Droid?

Well..... Android is based on the linux kernel, so perhaps they meant the linux browser plugin preview?

If there had been a small bit of instruction as to whether this was indeed what was referred to, I might dig a little deeper... as it is, it might have simply been a cryptic reference that you should watch that page....

Log me in (at least the remote control function)  should work okay if the ability to set the default remote control was still available. Currently, I can't figureout how to set the default, as the only option is to do it on a per instance basis, and that isn't accessible on the android browsers....

Is anyone aware of a methodology to set the default remote control setting?

Logmein for the Moto Droid phone w/ Android 2.0

My original post did not seem to link correctly, so here it is again. Hello, Logmein? It's Droid calling. Is anybody home?

the post and article link:

This article was posted nearly a YEAR ago, way back in Fri, 20 Feb 2009!

LogMeIn to Help Android Users

So the question is:

IS LOGMEIN HELPING ANDROID USERS?

I keep searching everywhere, but I can not find where we are being helped.
Did I stupidly just assume that my Droid would be supported?

Here is what Logmein's Vice President of Product Development, Ken Bardos, said:

"the company will offer the software to carriers and phone manufacturers for integration before the phone goes on sale, allowing them to link into the Android software at a deeper level"

-Kevin Bardos, LogMeIn's vice president of product development

Well, the phone has certainly gone on sale.

Mr Bardo, when will my phone be supported?

Re: Logmein for the Moto Droid phone w/ Android 2.0

While I understand and share your frustration, I do note that the article you reference deals with service providers being able to access the handsets remotely rather than the ability to use the phone to access your remote machine.

I think a lot of angst could be headed off by someone in the know taking a moment to tell us whether this is still on the drawing board, or if it has been abandoned..... I've found another workable solution in the interim, t I hate to switch everything over if a solution is in the offing..... It would be nice to have some info, even if it isn't exactly what everyone is hoping for..... a simple interim step would be to allow the setting of the default convention for remote viewing to be html.... jjust like this forum, where I can select to edit html, which allows me to post this, whereas I cannot in the normal interface.....

I love LMI, but I must admit a small amount of dismay that there isn't a mod around to at least say "we're working on it"...... or "tough luck".... either way, it's preferable to crickets chirping.....

What have you done to work around it for now? I found software from softwareforme.com called phonemypc, but really would like to save the $10 if I knew that there would be an app for the motorola droid.

Will there be an app coming? this is the main reason I bought a smart phone and may take it back if there is no app on the way.

If not for the droid, what about the Nexus One (google phone)?

Alright update... Phonemypc was really bad in my experience. I tried to use it to access logmein.com from a remote pc, but it hung after opening a web browser on my remote pc. Don't waste your $10.

Log Me In - Will you please make an app for the Android platform!! :)

Yeah - I may have been a little overly hopeful in expecting productive results from LMI's spending a year working intensively with both phone companies and the Android platform.
For the record, I think a great deal of this frustration (quickly turning into outright anger!) is the fact that the iPhone has been supported fore quite a while. We all wrongly assumed that what we thought was the best application (LogMeIn), would be a perfect fit for the best phone (the Droid)...

Re: Logmein for the Moto Droid phone w/ Android 2.0

I can't believe LMI is sitting on this and not letting us know if they are working on an app or not. As soon as my contract ends, I'm moving to another remote tool. I'm sure not moving a bad network to support customers with dropped calls. I just knew LMI would release something like the one for the i-phone; all the darn spam they sent me on AT&T's crappy network... I just knew Droid would be supported because of the Verizon network. Who in their right mind would decide not to create an app for a device made by GOOGLE, hello? And, it's the device that runs on thee most reliable network... which is what is needed when remoting into a system!!

I don't really care that it's not supported right now, as the Droid is new, but LMI could at least let customers know if it's coming or not. It's been months now; they've had time to see the Droid is taking off. As the guy who writes the checks, even if they come out with it later, LMI not telling us "we're on it folks" has left a really bad taste in my mouth.
