I have logmein free, most recent version installed on clients...
I have noticed that only on Mac Server OS 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 with my logmein acct. configured I cannot see the screen when I log into the remote system. All is BLACK. And if i try other vnc methods thereafter, Apple Remote Desktop or vnc protocol, the only see black.
It hasn't happened w/ Mac OS client versions...
The only way I have gotten around the is to ssh into the machine and turn off & on apple remote desktop via command line or simply RESTART the server!. Which is a BIG IT no, no.
If it were a client mac, no prob, I would just ask my user to reboot but it's a server! and cannot easily reboot, many users need access. FYI, h
I am having the exact same problem. Everything you describe--black screen, VNC not working. It's become a huge pain on my servers as well. I'm really at a loss for this. It happens so often that I get scared when loggin into the server because my ability to stay on is so unpredictable.
This began happening with the LogMeIn client update that happened back in Feb I believe. For well over a year or so I've had no problems using the service to manage my servers.
I've tried using LogMeIn from Firefox, Safari, with the LMI plugin, without the LMI plugin--still the same issue.
Also have ssh'ed into the server and killed the following process that were running:
-all LMI and LogMeIn processes
All of them pretty much restart immediately. If I knew which process to restart without having to reboot the whole server that would be a huge step forward until this gets sorted out.
Please count me in as someone desperately needing a fix for this.
Hello and thank you for the reports of the problem you are experiencing.
Our Development Team is aware of an issue where headless (i.e. no monitor attached) macs are experiencing this issue and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not know when that resolution will be available. The only known workaround at this time is to reboot the computer, which can be performed remotely via LogMeIn. I have included instructions in the link below.
