Hi,

just a little post to explain how to use the logmein plugin with firefox 3.5 (beta, rc) :

- first type in the address bar : " about:config "

- create a new booleen key : " extensions.checkCompatibility "

- set the value to " Flase "

You can now install the logmein plugin !

I have search a long time to use the plugin with firefox betas, that's the reason I share this tips with you today. I hope this will be helpfull for some people.

Re: logmein firefox 3.5 plugin installation

I tried this with the value: false but it is still not working. I cannot install it because of compatibility reasons. I deinstalled it first, added this key and restarted FF and then installed the add-in without success.... This is the version I'm using:

Gecko/20090616 Firefox/3.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Re: logmein firefox 3.5 plugin installation

Hi,

I'm using the same version of FF so it should work

This is what I have in the about:config page :

option name:

extensions.checkCompatibility

Statute:

Defined by user

Type:

Boolean

Value:

false

Check that the option name is strictly the same (case sensitive) : extensions.checkCompatibility

Re: logmein firefox 3.5 plugin installation

I cannot get the right string which should be boolean. See screendump in the link:

Is there someway to delete that key and created it again?

Ok,

close all firefox instances,

Startup menu -> programs -> mozilla firefox -> mozilla firefox (safe mode)

a window will appear, select reset preferences by firefox default and restart firefox.

Now you can try again with the right key ;)

Re: logmein firefox 3.5 plugin installation

Actually I got the same error upgrading to Firefox 3.5 just now (August 4th, 2009).  Once I restarted Firefox then went to logmein.com and tried to connect, their servers told me I needed to install a new plug-in and that worked.

Re: logmein firefox 3.5 plugin installation

I had version 1.000.526 or so of logmein for firefox. The new version was supposed to be 1.000.608.

I'm running Firefox 3.6.8 and I was prompted several times to install new logmein plugin. After doing so, it turns out (had to check extensively the file system for this) that:

*** logmein downloads and installs the new plugin files into a directory

xxxxxxxx.default\extensions\LogMeInClient@logmein.com\plugins\npRACtrl.dll

This is the directory on a faster disk where I moved my xxxxxxx.default firefox directory.

However, mozilla firefox 3.6.8 looks for the plugin in the directory

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\npRACtrl.dll

I had to go in and manually copy the new 608 npRACtrl.dll into the C:\... location above for the new plugin to be used and for the nagging to upgrade to stop... and for the firefox crashes to stop... looks like... for now.

Please advise how we can do upgrades in the future... without messing with the filesystem so much... and doing it the RIGHT way!

Thanks LogMeIn!

Oh, I'm posting this on http://annoyances-resolved.blogspot.com so you can add your solution in the comments there if you will!
