which client interface?

Any suggestions on choosing between the remote control versions -- ActiveX, Mozilla, Flash, Java, or HTML? I'm using Windows Vista but I assume any choice but ActiveX is applicable to any client platform. It appears to me that HTML reloads the page on any action, so that's not really a remote control interface. But among the others?

Re: which client interface?

Guess it depends which browser you use. Java loads pretty slow, flash is pretty heavy for old and low-end machines, ActiveX is (as far as I know) internet-explorer only (=windows only), and Mozilla would most likely just be the addon for mozilla firefox browser.

If you use firefox (which I recommend) I think you should go for the Mozilla Firefox Addon. For internet explorer choose the ActiveX and any other case I'd go for Flash.

Is this actually a one time choise or can you try them all? I never got those options, it just got me the firefox addon and on my cellphone used the HTML version.

Re: which client interface?

AFAIK you can switch at any time by clicking the icon to the left of the "remote control" button.

So yeah, I could try them all but there's so many. :smileywink: I normally use Opera, though Opera has done so many strange things in recent years that I often have to switch to Firefox. I used Java last night, and IIRC that used to be the only choice. It seems to load pretty quickly, but I'll try Flash for comparison.

Thanks,

Re: which client interface?

So, what changed last night? Yesterday evening I was using the Java client. It worked for quite a while, then I got disconnected several times, then the list of My Computers was gone, so I went to bed. This evening, the interface options are gone. I try to click the icon to the left of Remote Control and the page reloads in HTML mode instead of giving me options. There's an ActiveX button, but clicking that also just reloads in HTML mode. I'm using Opera and will not use IE except in a dire emergency, so ActiveX is not an option.

I looked  on the home page and product page but could not find anything about new versions at all, much less about this feature changing.
