Re: Hamachi for the iPhone and iTouch.

Please make this happen.  I already use Hamachi, and having remote access would be awesome.  +2 votes from me, one for ,y iPhone, the other for my iPad...

Re: Hamachi for the iPhone and iTouch.

I could be wrong but I think the major problem is the VPN wouldn't be able to continue running in the background.  If I'm not mistaken, backgrounded network apps like this can only remain for about 10 minutes.  Hence why if you have Ignition, it's able to stay connected for that long.

I think Hamachi would need to be supported directly by Apple, which likely wouldn't happen.

I hope I'm wrong though.

In any case, this gets my vote!

Re: Hamachi for the iPhone and iTouch.

James Brown said "I Don't Want Nobody To Give Me Nothing (Open Up The Door, I'll Get It Myself)".

Apple Computer gives out the source code for Darwin (OpenStep) every time after each system upgrade.

I realize you forced yourselves on the free open-source Hamachi community

because you wanted to build the LogMeIn remote access software on top of it

but re-open the bottom part back up to the users - release the sources of Hamachi again

so we can leverage it onto "unauthorized" situations like the iPod/iPad/iPhone/iOS etc...

I end up having to run some lame VPN to connect my iPod to my network

when I'd much rather have the wonderful super-robust Hamachi I love so very much

but LogMeIn ControlMyLife won't let us have the source code anymore

and the freaking iOS runs Darwin!!! - this is clear when iOS is jailbroken!

we've jailbroken iOS because Apple has guns to their head making them lock it down

but LockUsOut doesn't have an excuse for refusing to locking down Hamachi

Apple has the control-freak entertainment industry running the iTunes Store against their will

and control-freak AT&T/Verizon forcing/insisting iOS be locked down even on the iPods!

they even insisted Apple remove the camera/microphone from iPod Touch v1-3!!!

what excuse does LockUsOut have for keeping Hamachi closed and painfully crippled?

we'd have Hamachi running console on iOS by now! we'd have it on Android too!

we'd have Hamachi everywhere!

your weird corporate restrictions are simply harming a wonderful free program

when all you wanted was to build something on top of it

take a hint from Apple Computer (and NeXT)

who successfully build a premium product Mac OS X (NeXTStep)

on top of a free open source base Darwin (OpenStep)

without becoming control freaks

you can manage Hamachi like Apple manages Darwin (OpenStep)

like responsible stewards of a precious free resource

I love Hamachi. I talk Hamachi to people all day. I use it constantly.

The first question new clients ask is "can I have it for iPod? android? etc?"

and I have to say "no, some control-freak corporation is squelching it"

I Don't Want Nobody To Give Me Nothing (Open Up The Door, I'll Get It Myself)

my iPod is waiting for the wonderful Hamachi - open up the door, I'll get it myself!

Re: Hamachi for the iPhone and iTouch.

Another +1 again.

With the forthcoming ability to sync your iPhone content over a local network, a Hamachi client would let us sync from everywhere rather than just at home. An extremely valuable ability when you consider updating your podcasts (which distribution is much faster and reliable in the windows/mac iTunes client than on the phone)

Re: Hamachi for the iPhone and iTouch.

+1 vote here. This would be extremely useful for syncing and apps supporting only local wi-fi as already mentioned in previous posts.

Is there any update on this, are there any plans to develop this, seeing this thread was started way back in 2009 and users have shown that there is a healthy demand for this..?
