When hosting I eventually lose internet

I am hosting a VPN so some friends and I can play a game together.  After a fresh PC restart and DSL router power-cycle, I can host the VPN with no issues and browse the internet at the same time with no issues.  I can talk on Ventrilo also with no issues.  However, after what seems to be a random length of time, an hour or more, I (the host) lose the ability to browse the internet.  I receive a DNS lookup failed error.  I cannot access my router with 192.168.1.254, which I am able to do after a clean reboot of PC and router.  When the DNS fails to respond (I assume its my router in this situation), I can continue to play the game and host the VPN with no issues.  I can even continue to talk on Ventrilo.  However, if I disconnect from Ventrilo, I will be unable to reconnect.

This issue is extremely annoying because I am the game's host server.  Besides the annoyance of having to reboot every hour or so, it means the game server must go down while I reboot.  Additionally I like to browse the internet while I am playing this game.

DESPERATE PLEA OF HELP,
