Re: constantly switching to relayed-tunnel?

Hi everyone, came across this post while searching out a solution to the problem myself.

I have now solved my own problem and thought i'd just post what i did incase it helps anyone else out in future.

I currently play Battlefield Bad Company 2 online and was getting a lot of 'disconnects' from the game which was solved by going into my router and turning off 'UPnP'.

I eventually left this off and whilst using Hamachi² i noticed my 'relayed tunnel' problem. By chance i turned my 'Use UPnP' back on and immediately the relayed tunnel turned to a green light with 'direct tunnel' now showing. UPnP must need to be on in order for this to connect direct.

This may not be a solution to everyones problem but hope it helps someone. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: constantly switching to relayed-tunnel?

ciao steiner666,

I have a PC connected to a lan through a wireless router. The router is in DHCP.

The PC has an internet connection with an internet usb key (DHCP as well).

If I start hamachi to connect to another remote computer:

1. it works with green dot if I switch wireless interface off

2. it goes into relayed tunnel (cyano dot) work if I swith wireless interface on

tricky, isn't it? can you tell me why?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me an answer!

Ciao.

Paolo

Re: constantly switching to relayed-tunnel?

just a guess here, but try setting the network priority so that the network connection that is actually connected to the internet is first priority. I'm guessing hamachi tries to use your LAN connection first and then for whatever reason switches to relayed.

http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-vista/change-network-adapter-priority-in-vista/

Tells you how to set the priority - it's for vista but the steps should be the same for win7 as well. If you are using something else other then vista or 7 - go hit google :)

Re: constantly switching to relayed-tunnel?

Meh.

I forwarded the ports yesterday, rebooted the relevant machines, and was deliriously happy to watch all the connections go green (direct, non-relayed).

So today I come in and find that I'm back to a relayed connection on a computer that has a forwarded port through the firewall. There is a machine on the same virtual network in another building behind a different router that is using the same port number. Could this be causing it?

Ugh.

Re: constantly switching to relayed-tunnel?

I'm currently on the move a lot but need access to my server via RDP. I've been using Himachi, and encounter the relayed tunnel occassionally from my home pc, and I usually just reset Himachi on the server side via regular logmein and it fixes it.  (bites that I have to have both accounts but redundancy in this has really saved me several times) The issue that I'm having now is that I'm using a tethered iphone for my laptop and getting a tunneled connection all of the time utilizing it.  There are no port forwards for me to do since I'm tethered.  Any suggestions on how I can get greens for my tunnel?  Should I still try my firewall changes?  When I'm connected at home they are usually all green.

Re: constantly switching to relayed-tunnel?

Ever since Hamachi became commercial it stopped working. I feel like LogMeIn did it intentionally to make you use their other more expensive products.

That's what happens to all great products, corporation takes over and destroys it, just so that they can profit from their other products. I think that Hamachi is a bate and switch product of LogMeIn. You fall for it's ease of use only to realize that it is not a usable product. As soon as you do you start looking for something that will work even for a monthly fee.

Can some one tell me at LogMeIn HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO HAVE THE OLD HAMACHI??? That worked great without ever having relayed tunnels. All answers by LogMeIn in this post are false. You never had to set any port forwarding with Hamachi 1. It's a lame excuse just to get people off their backs.

First they broke Hamachi 1 then they made an unusable product and called it Hamachi 2. I thought the problem was with the free version. I decided to get a yearly $20 license to see if anything improves and no nothing has changed. I feel like the next step is getting a refund because honestly it was a waste of money.

Does anyone know if buying a $200 license fix the relay issues and do i have to buy it for every single machine running Hamachi 2?
