Installation hangs, crashes computer

Hi all,

I'm having trouble installing IT Reach on one of the computers in the office

and am hoping you folks can offer some input.

The installer starts ok, gets to the point where it blacks out the screen,

blacks out, comes back, runs for a couple seconds, then the computer

totally hangs requiring a reboot.

Re: Installation hangs, crashes computer

Remove all old versions of Java, then go to www.java.com and install the latest version. Update your video card drivers to the latest ones, then try again.

The ONLY time I have had crashes was with OLD video drivers.

Still no luck I'm afraid. Any other ideas out there?

Re: Installation hangs, crashes computer

I see it has been about a week, and no real solution.  I suggest, since you are paying for the product, that you submit a support ticket, or call their support lines.

They may use Rescue to jump onto your machine and figure out the problem and a solution.

Let us know what happens.

Excellent, LMI was able to get me up and running using an installation which doesn't include the mirror driver in about 10 minutes.

Re: Installation hangs, crashes computer

Here's a copy of the message they sent me:

1.       Please download this file.

2.       Next, create a folder in the C:/ drive called lmi. Then open the LogMeIn.zip file and extract it to the lmi folder.

3.       Next, go to Start, then Run, and type cmd.

4.       To find your system type, Right click on the My Computer icon, and choose properties:

o        If the local operating system is 32-bit, then at the command prompt, type:

1.       cd C:\lmi\x86 (hit enter)

2.       logmein install -nomirrordrv (hit enter)

o        If the local operating system is 64-bit, then at the command prompt, type:

1.       cd C:\lmi\x64 (hit enter)

2.       logmein install -nomirrordrv (hit enter)

5.       You will then receive a message that install was successful. Close the command prompt window and click "Open LogMeIn" on the message that appears, and follow the steps to assign the computer to your LogMeIn account.

In case link doesn't come across, it's:

https://secure.logmein.com/logmein.zip

Good luck!
