World of Warcraft - no joy...

Hi all.

Got this ignition iphone package with a view to checking my auctions in WoW.  The VERY first scren I can see, but once it brings me to my character screen to enter my password, I see nothing on the iphone screen.  Tried various resolutions and colour depths.  **bleep** shame, think I shelled out £18 for nowt. :)

Any ideas?

Re: World of Warcraft - no joy...

I'm having the same issue, save for the fact that i cannot even see the log in screen to type in my info. With that in mind, i think it has alot to do with the network speed at the time. For example, i think, at its current state it is impossible to view WoW over 3g. Maybe with wireless G/N the performance will be different. However, i could be wrong, i have also tried all resolutions and the lowest settings possible on WoW, all being fruitless efforts.

Re: World of Warcraft - no joy...

I also neglected to mention that i did some deeper testing. I logged into my computer and started WoW with the iphone, proceeded to look at my monitor that was showing the game, typed the login info with the iphone, logged in, entered the world, and was even able to move around by setting wow to move on click. I was also able to use my abilities by bringing up the keyboard on screen. Basically, i was playing WoW from across the room with the Iphone as a remote, with no visuals on the iPhone itself.

After reading your post up above, i see you actually get the blank screen at the same time i do.

World of warcraft has said before it doesnt support VNC and ive never seen it work on a PC before, i have seen it work from a mac with different software before. That being said, Logmein isnt actually working like a VNC, so im not sure exeactly what is blocking it, it could just be a bandwidth limit over the free version of logmein.

Let me know if you find anything out further and ill be sure to do the same.

Re: World of Warcraft - no joy...

Maybe wrong here but when you install LMI onto your PC you are told your screen will go blank while it installs this is due to it creating the Mirror video driver it uses.

Playing wow would not make use of the Mirrored driver in LMI and that is probably why you can't see the screen not to mention the potential redraw issues regarding framerates if you could.

Re: World of Warcraft - no joy...

I believe the reason is that all 3D graphics are performed on the graphics card, and transferred directly to the screen for performance reasons. I believe this is called overlay. The real video is never known by the CPU and the system, as it usually doesn't need to know. However, I guess LogMeIn sends the videodata accessible from the CPU, which seems most logical. Therefore I believe that all 3D programs would cause blank screens when using logmein. However, it there is some way to make the 3D graphics get rendered by software, "software rendering", it will never be rendered by the gfx-board, but by the CPU. (wasting lots and lots of CPU capacity) But in theory software rendering would make it work.

Frankly, I do not know how to make newer games use software rendering :-s

Re: World of Warcraft - no joy...

I had problems with one of the other remote apps and wow except i didn't just get a blank screen it was only showing my desktop and not wow it would show anything previously opened so i went into wow and took it off of full screen and then it worked with no problems you could try it with this app and see if it works i haven't installed it on my android yet but please reply back and tell me if that solves the issue for this app as well.

Works fine if you run WoW in windowed mode.
