Re: Goodbye Logmein

LogMeIn has taken away features that I've already paid for (groups, alerts, inventory, etc).  I want my features back or I want my money back!  The entire paying LMI customer base, the ones who made LMI successful, feels shafted by this move.  This issue should not be taken lightly by LMI management.

Re: Goodbye Logmein

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. The trust has been broken. Instead of offering enhancements that would compel us to upgrade to a paid version, they yank groups and have a 5 year old design their new interface. If something seems too good to be true like lmi, it is. It just took a while. I can be very grateful when given somthing for free BUT I can be just as angry when something is taken away. BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!! The real character of LMI has been revealed. I would just as soon spend $600 on an alternative than give them 1 penny at this point. I spent the last two days doing nothing but looking at alternatives. If you don't have an old pc you can use as a server then there are plenty of lmi alternatives out there, but if you do have a pc you can use as a rdp server, then echovnc and echserver do work and you don't have to worry that some Eastern European communist programmer isn't going to decide to capture your passwords and pass them on to their friends in Shanghai. A hosted remote access service is an incredible security risk and if you have any company information on your computers that Eastern Block competitors may want you are insane to use a hosted remote access service. It's a good thing the USA doesn't make anything anymore so there are probabaly much less secrets to protect.

We value our customer base and are continually working to provide our customers with more value for less money.  For example, existing IT Reach customers, as well as power users of LogMeIn Pro, are not being asked to pay more money to use Central; rather, we have automatically extended them a complimentary, free copy of Central for the length of their paid subscription(s) with LogMeIn.  It is included at no charge until the last renewal.

Please consider, Central augments and extends the features you previously had with IT Reach, Pro and Free, including:

1.       You can now deploy an unlimited number of LogMeIn Free clients to any computer remotely using a deployment link in Central.  This helps you  save time and effort getting new machines connected to your account.

2.       You can now save login credentials for both Pro2 (formerly IT Reach/Pro) computers AND LogMeIn Free computers using Central.  This helps you save time and effort re-entering or having to memorize passwords.

3.       Central introduces new graphical charting for both reports, inventory, and alerts, helping you see at-a-glance the status of the computers and users in your account.

4.       Central includes the Hamachi2 VPN connectivity service at no additional charge.  I encourage you to look at the networking section of Central and see if its virtual networking services could benefit you and your employees.  It takes only minutes to set up.

We are striving to raise the bar on price versus performance and think that at the time of renewal customers will feel the $299 price is commensurate with the value we provide.  We recognize customers are likely to consider other options and please be assured we will continue to add features that will keep us at the forefront of the market.

Our goal is to continue to earn our customer’s business and hope we can continue to meet your needs longer term.

Re: Goodbye Logmein

Andrew, can you answer the question on here as to does central apply to each master account and all secondary users will get access to it for the $299, or would it be $299 per person who neeeds to control all machines?

For example, I have a master account with x amount of PCs. I buy a central licence next year for $299.

3 of the people working for my company previous had the ability to manage alerts, inventory, etc

Would I then need another 3 x $299 central licences to have this functionality again?

I'm a big advocate for logmein products but basically it seems that unless we buy central, all the functionality of the IT Reach (or Pro 2) software which we have to pay for is unusable (Inventory being our biggest reason for using Reach and not Free).

Ignition saves the logon credentials for IT Reach & Free so is that going to be removed from the next Ignition release so Central becomes the only application to do this?

Hamachi is included in central. Great, I was sold 10 x 1 year Hamachi licences less than 2 weeks ago, so that's proved to be money well spent and as it was obvously known within logmein that it would be given away free, it's a real kick in the teeth. And before you ask this wasn't bought online it was via one of the sales managers.

RE:

Please consider, Central augments and extends the features you previously had with IT Reach, Pro and Free, including:

1.       You can now deploy an unlimited number of LogMeIn Free clients to any computer remotely using a deployment link in Central.  This helps you  save time and effort getting new machines connected to your account.

Not for me it doesn't.  Because of the HIPAA regulations, we REQUIRE all of our facilities to install ANY remote connection at the client. I have never found the previous deployment methods the least burdensome. Further, when I do need to install the logmein client remotely myself (versus sending the user an email with the link and the appropriate credentials) I use Crossloop. This new deployment link is not a welcome feature. It is a potential security risk, one that I will find very difficult to justify to the powers-that-be.

 2.       You can now save login credentials for both Pro2 (formerly IT Reach/Pro) computers AND LogMeIn Free computers using Central.  This helps you save time and effort re-entering or having to memorize passwords.

I could save login credentials with the old portal using firebox and our fingerprint readers. Further, there are a SLEW of third-party apps that can do the same thing. This new "feature" is also a security risk, and a potential HIPAA violation for medical facilities. With the fingerprint readers, the auto logins were specific to the user's fingerprint. If I store the logins within logmein, anyone with access to the computer can autologin to a workstation - whether they have the proper clearance and access or not.  That's a definite NO-GO here.

 3.       Central introduces new graphical charting for both reports, inventory, and alerts, helping you see at-a-glance the status of the computers and users in your account.

There is NOTHING in the added eye garbage of any significant use to an organization that uses remote access and specifically logmein internally. Further, I could see at a glance a hell of a lot more PERTINENT information with the old interface.  What I need to know: which computers are up, which are down, and which are being accessed remotely. That's it. What else is of value to know "at a glance?" All of the ancillary reports were available in the old interface, unobtrusively behind the scenes and available only when necessary, where the belonged.

 4.       Central includes the Hamachi2 VPN connectivity service at no additional charge.  I encourage you to look at the networking section of Central and see if its virtual networking services could benefit you and your employees.  It takes only minutes to set up.

Hamachi was ALREADY available at no charge. Further, there are more robust and free alternatives to Hamachi; specifically the award-winning Leafnetworks, which we had to switch to some time ago because of incompatibilities between Hamachi and one of our medical management programs.

UKITSolutions, it's $299USD for the account owner, and it covers all users they manage and all computers you add.

Re: Goodbye Logmein

This is pretty ridiculous.  Aside from the server side gateway being down and unable to access all Pro2 computers, the My Computers page is now officially worthless due to groups being removed.  What is even more stupid is the search function is gone.  Did the developers even realize that some people don't want the magical webpage festival that is Central, and just want a computer list with a search field?  I can't believe this business practice.  Why even have the ability to exit Central, when the My Computers page is now defunct and void of purpose?

LogMeIn messed up big time.

Andrew,

I would love to hear your spin on the following, considering that this is the crux of the problems on this thread.  To date I have not heard this addressed.

Above you claim that Central augments and extends features previously found in the core products.

In reality you ripped away features from your existing users (namely search and groups) and have essentially told your base that if they want those features back they can pay for it.  That is neither augmenting or extending these features.  Creating and advanced search and advanced groups would have extended these features.  As a loyal customer I find that to be a slap in the face.  Yes my company makes use of logmein free.  But it is a supplement to the logmein rescue, that I pay $2200 a year for as well.

So how do you explain the removal of core functionality, only to add them back as a paid feature as a "benefit" or "extension"?

Re: Goodbye Logmein - displeasure with the new interface

I want to chime in my dislike for the new format for one specific reason. I had the ability to right click on a user and open it in a new window. I've worked around this, but it takes even more time.

I personally would like all the links to open up in a new window so I can open multiple connection/computers at the same time.

New new interface is slower, but I do like the reduced click to get to the customer.
