Intel® Remote PC Assist Technology (Intel® RPAT) end of Life (EOL) Notification!

Just so you know :smileyindifferent:...

Intel® Remote PC Assist Technology (Intel® RPAT):

"Due to market response, Intel Corporation ("Intel") has decided to discontinue Intel® Remote PC Assist Technology (Intel® RPAT). As a consequence, Intel® Remote PC Assist Service and associated marketing activities will wind down and eventually cease in October, 2010.

Intel remains committed to the needs of its customers; as we move forward, we will use this site to share with you alternate technologies that harness the out-of-band communication capability of Intel® vPro™ technology and extend the performance, value and capabilities of Intel® Architecture.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. Intel was and is a good partner, but given the market demand for RPAT, it didn’t make sense for either company to invest additional resources in the service/project.

Re: Intel® Remote PC Assist Technology (Intel® RPAT) end of Life (EOL) Notification!

I think it is a little sad, because I just read up on all the RPAT stuff I could find on the net - and then the next day...well you know how this ends.

I really liked the idea about RPAT, but sad to see it get the EOL Notification. Lots of potential, but I hope they will make something similar in a couple of years.

(And while I'm at it: Intel just bought Mcafee for roughly 7 billion $) : I don't hope that they will integrate it into hardware - because Mcafee is like an asthmatic ant with some heavy shopping. (Read: Slow)
