Time for LogMeIn Rescue to Work with Combofix

Virus removal is a large part of what IT Admins do. Combofix is hands down the best tool for this. Although VNC and many other free remote apps have no problems with Combofix, LogMeIn does. It doesn't just cancel the connection, it ruins the session when the machine is done with combofix and has restarted you have to start a new session, otherwise it wont work.

As a paying member of this service I feel this is something that should be addressed.

Re: Time for LogMeIn Rescue to Work with Combofix

I personally haven't used combofix for a loooong time. I use other tools/methods to achieve the same goal (more manuall labor I guess), besides AFAIK combofix is designed to target very specific malware. The problem with combo fix is that it deletes everything in the temp folders on reboot and this is where your LMI rescue files are located. Try enabling UA (not sure it will work though) or temporarily installing LogMeIn Free as a workaround. I would not expect LMI to look into this very particular request.

Good luck!

UA?

I'm assuming you're not talking about United Airlines which means people may not know what your choice of acronym is for.

Care to tell those of us who are not cool enough to know?

LOL i was just copying the post above:smileyhappy: Before you start combofix install temp Unattended access. That way you will still get back in after combofix has finished....sometimes. You still lose the connection for 15-30 mins.

Combofix is going to stop any alien process running, by design. So it cannot be fixed here, its combofix that needs to allow the logmein rescue service to run, whilst its doing its magic.

i would like to ask anyone if they had trouble with a downloaded version of windows .

i received a downloaded version of windows home premium from a log me in rescue rep. she'd told me that there was no replacement starter 7 software available for her to download to my pc after i'd gotten in contact with said person  , and she downloaded the full windows program to my pc. about a week later microsoft began sending me activation notices, there was no product key with this downloaded version available to me in order to register it with them. all i have is a worthless product id number. i keep getting sent to one rep to another, either at microsoft or elsewhere. must i wind up having to buy a whole new product just to get a product key? my pc itself was never that great, and it might be more cost -effective to junk it in that case. i'd prior to contacting this rep tried to recover starter with my pc's built-in software, but it still had many issues after a virus attack. i'd had third -party purchased pc protection prior also to all of this trouble, but my system crashed anyway. speedy pc pro referred me to the above service, it seems like it's all been for nothing. thanks.
