Hamachi gateway computer

Can someone tell me what constitutes a eligable gateway computer?  Cant a XP Pro workstation work as one?  its not on a domain.  I have many computers in my account but none show up when trying to configure a new gateway network.

Re: Hamachi gateway computer

If on a Domain:  Server Operating System ONLY; Will not work on Server 2000 or SBS 2003 due to limitations with the OS.

If not on a domain:  Windows XP and above, server or otherwise (baring SBS 2003 for same reason)

Also, the Gateway Node can only be a member of the Gateway Network.  If a computer is a member of more than one network, then you cannot even enable it as a Gasteway until removed from the other network.

Re: Hamachi gateway computer

Yes but how do you actually enable or "make" one of your computers the "gateway"". I have successfully instralled the Hamachi software on all computers but can't find anywhere that tells me how to make one of them the gateway. I have the Hamachi window up but my network light won't go on and when I click it to enable the message reads that the "gateway is not present or offline"...help this is very frustrating as I bought the Hamachi as it was supposed to work easily.

Re: Hamachi gateway computer

You add the gateway through the web portal and you can specify which one you want to be the gateway and which ones are the client

Re: Hamachi gateway computer

You can't make a Guest a Gateway. Add it to your account through the System > Attach to LogMeIn Account link in the UI.

You have not finished the attachment procedure.

Now you need to login to your account, and choose the Join Request option. There you must approve the join request.
Once approved, you then need to choose Edit next to the network name, then Add/Remove members, to change a computer to a Gateway.

Along with the above restrictions, a Gateway Node cannot be a member of another network, so you will need to remove the computer you wish to be the gateway from any other network before attempting this change.

All this is defined in our user guide, which is available to you by going to Support > LogMeIn Hamachi2 > Documents

i saw it was pending under prefs, so i logged in, and went under join requests... and ALLOWED.. guest is now gone, good, but still cannot find gateway it says, says both PC1 and PC2 are both clients
how do i get the gateway up and running

(it says gateway 0.0.0.0) and it is greyed out in the hamachi UI

Re: Hamachi gateway computer

I'm no rocket scientist but the poster is correct in this case. The ability to add a gateway seems to be missing for some reason although it was there last night. There is something seriously screwy going on here. This is like putting us in a maze and saying, just go towards the exit without there actually being an exit. Are you guys intentionally trying to mess with our heads?
