Add password search capability

With our dark web monitoring service, we often get full passwords that were compromised, but not always the source (i.e. LinkedIn, or website). People need to be able to search all the passwords in their vault to see to which website/service the breached password is connected. Currently you have to export to CSV and search the CSV. That's not user-friendly nor secure now that you have this plain CSV file on your hard drive with all your credentials.

How would this work?

It would work like any other search function works. Go into your vault, click "Search Passwords" and type in the password that you want to find. It will then show you any credential entries you've saved with that password.

This is also super-helpful in strengthening your passwords. Say you used to use a formula like "JBL-xxxxxxx" for all your passwords. Now you want to find out which passwords you need to change so none use that formula. Then you could search for "JBL" and it would show all the credential entries that have that as part of your password.

Doesn't seem like rocket science.

Super clear now. Gets my vote.

I would use this! ...

(...if I hadn’t already used the CSV export feature to search for formulaic passwords I hadn’t changed. (That was years ago and it was years before that that I stopped creating formulaic passwords but I recall there was still at least one around to change that was a big risk I hadn’t been aware of.)

Once implemented, it should be mentioned in the Security Challenge documentation.)

I should probably do a CSV export, manual edit and re-import to clear out a bunch of cobwebs. Plus: It’s been a while since I’ve made a just in case disaster recovery encrypted back up.

Vault size seems to have a big impact on plugin performance.  It’s a crude technique  to help identify large vault entries.

😂  I just realized that my suggestion made way less sense than yours initially did without more explanation. I just added some explanation but mine probably still needs work!?  👨‍💻
