GoToAssist Remote Support utility has been installing itself repeatedly on my Win7 Pro device. This happened years ago with one particular release, but I don't remember how the issue was resolved.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Uninstalled…
Rebooted…
Installed new version…
Opened a session with a remote client.
Closed session.
Rebooted.
Did NOT have GoToAssist update itself !!!
Success !!
Hi there,
Sorry for any confusion!
Just so I understand you right, you are removing the GoToAssist Remote Support module from your Windows 7 client PC, and then it suddenly re-installs later?
Checking for upgrades is standard procedure. Could you confirm what version is installed currently?
Since you've been using Remote Support on the same PC for a while, I would next suggest you try a full uninstall / reinstall at the client end.
It's a good practice, yes: Because uninstalling will remove prior GoToAssist versions that may be conflicting on that client currently.
The reason for the version check is to make certain GoToAssist isn't actively trying to upgrade and failing.
Just to answer your follow up question here, we don't currently have the need for a special uninstall utility -- as the OS should be able to clear it out completely on its own.
