Problems: Using Atem Mini or Camlink4k as webcam in GoToWebinar | jumping upload and audio problems

Good evening dear GoTo-Team and users,

we have some problems with GoToWebinar and need some help!
First of all, we are an event technology company and have a costumer, who wants to make a webinar in good quality. We build up 5 cams (Sony z150) switched by an atem studio hd, have some more mics controlled by a Yamaha QL5 and put this into a 1080p video.

First "problem" is, how can we put our 1080p video into GoToWebinar?
We tried:
- Using Atem Mini as webcam, didnt work
- Using CamLink4k as a webcam, didnt work
- Using CamLink4k with a scaler in 720p, worked but the video is cropped
- Using AtemMini as webcam with a mac, worked but the video is cropped and mirrored
- Using CamLink4k as webcam with a mac, worked but the video is cropped and mirrored

Addition to the cropped problem: GoToWebinar thinks we put in a 4:3 video but we give a 16:9 1080p into the software?!

Our solution (atm):
Using CamLink4K as input for OBS, scale it their in 720p, start a virtual cam (plugin you need to download) and use this as webcam in GoToWebinar.

Is there a possibility to use our 1080p picture directly in GoToWebinar via CamLink4K or Atem Mini?

Then we started the webinar with 500 users. At the first show we had massive problems with the audio. Our computer was sending sound to GoToWebinar but the users didnt get anything. The problem was there for around 5 minutes. After a reconnection in GoToWebinar to the audio server it worked (the program reconnected itself).
The videoquality is jumping between ok and really bad. We are sending 720p. At our test we had no problems but in the live show we had massive breakdowns of the video quality.

Next day we tested our connection with the GoToNetworktester. Everything is ok and we have an upload of 60Mbps. Shouldnt be a problem.
So we started a test event. The video was send all the time with 2500kbps till someone logged in with a phone. After that the upload started jumping between 200kbps and 1000kbps. When the smartphone left the Webinar the upload jumped back to ~2500kbps and was something like stable.
Same we saw at the show in the evening. We cant control that the users dont log in with a smart phone so what is the problem? Is the problem at the GoToWebinar site or at our site?

What we did:
- Changed the streaming computer, same problem
- Deactivated firewalls, same problem
- Changed the internet connection to a lte router with 4g+ and 20mbps upload, same problem

Today is our third of four shows.
We have no solution till now. The support needs the logfiles and some more information to make an analysis. Also they need some days to make the analysis so this doesnt help us at our problem for today and tomorrow...
Our customer is paying a lot of money to get a good webinar and we try our best and give a clean 1080p video and a clean sound but the users only get bad quality and we dont have an idea what the problem is...

Maybe someone can help us,

cheers

Did you ever find a solution to this?  I have the same problem and have to stop using GoToWebinar because of it.

Hey Damir,

like you see, there was no support at all. Only solution was to scale the Video in 720p with OBS and use it as virtual cam. The problem with the stability wasnt controlable..
Our customer switched to an other plattform for making webinars and sincerly then we have much better quality in their webinars 🙂

cheers

@DamirBadjari  We have done some more testing, and came up with a set up solution that might work for you:
