Re: Hamachi no longer works after MacOS Big Sur 11.5 (20G71) update

I moved all my clients to ZeroTier.  A bit more involved to get setup, but it works just the same.

Re: Hamachi can't run on m1 Mac

@AshC ...You say:

"Hamachi is compatible with M1 processors, though you may need to manually enable the kernel there."

...You can be more explicit, and indicate the steps to install Hamachi on BigSur with M1 processor.

You are supposed to be LogMeIn Technical Support,.... If you say that Hamachi is compatible with M1,...help us and explain us how to connect all these users who are currently disconnected,...because Hamachi is not compatible with Apple M1 processors.

that it is manual, it is not important,...but indicate the stepss 😤

Re: Hamachi no longer works after MacOS Big Sur 11.5 (20G71) update

Hi @CaptainChunk ,

compared to Hamachi,... how has the user experience been, with respect to the speed of response (VPN latency).

ZeroTier, manages the concept of concentrator (server),... just like Hamachi ?

regards

>Odd... I'm running 11.5.1 on multiple Macs (all Intel) and it's working fine.

How? did you do anything special? It won't launch at all for me.

Re: Hamachi not supported on macOS Big Sur

I appreciate your link but the solution outlined there does not correct this issue. To be sure, it does work for intel based Macs using Big Sur. However, When dealing with an M1 Mac this won't work.  The specific error received is that the extension needs to be updated by the developer.LogMeIn_Hamachi_Installer_and_Downloads.png

A little more information can be found here.  It's interesting to note that they were told 2 years ago about the changes.

Re: Hamachi not supported on macOS Big Sur

I'll explain how I got it to work on my intel Mac but YMMV and proceed at your own risk.

1. Uninstall Hamachi (This part may not be necessary)

2. Power off your Mac.

3. While Holding Command - R restart. You can release the when you see the apple

4. When prompted, select English (assuming) and click the right arrow

5. Select your account and click the right arrow

6. Enter the password and press continue.

7. You should now see 4 options starting with Restore from Time Machine. From the utilities menu across the top select terminal

8. In terminal type csrutil disable and press enter. There will be some line about how much of a bad idea this is and if you're changing this settings it's likely because of either lazy or incompetent developers.

9. Type reboot and press enter

10. Once logged in change your security and privacy settings to Allow apps downloaded from App Store and identified  developers (not sure this is necessary but it's the settings I use). Once installed you can change them back

11. Install Hamachi. There will be pop up asking you to allow the kernels and stating explicitly these are the lazy and/or incompetent developers they were talking about in recovery mode

12. Restart. You'll have to

13. Launch Hamachi and bask in the glory that is the last time that you will be able to install hamachi and get it to work by putting in effort that the LogMeIn developers were able to avoid

Serious note. My understanding is that this is not the best option. To give context, at the end of my work day I uninstall hamachi and enable my security. So my daily work routine begins with the steps I just described. Please do this at your own risk

Re: Hamachi not supported on macOS Big Sur

...  MY PROBLEM IS THAT HAMACHI DOES NOT WORK ON MAC WITH M1 PROCESSORS.

NOTHING WORKS, AS OF AUGUST 03, 2021, STILL HAMACHI IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW MAC WITH M1 PROCESSORS (SoC - Arm)

Re: Hamachi not supported on macOS Big Sur

You are wasting your time with this.

LogMeIn clearly do not care about Mac users any more. Switch to something else.

Re: Hamachi not supported on macOS Big Sur

Update on installing LogMeIn Hamachi on Mac (Intel)

Tested on MacBook Pro 2017 13 inch 4 Thunderbolt 3 Ports (T1 security chip)

OS Monterey 12.0 Beta (21A5294g)

Logmein Hamachi installs without any difficulty using the guidelines provided by Apple.

-- Security and Privacy set to allow installation from identified developers.  Follow prompts during installation to allow Logmein Hamachi.

My Big Sur (intel) installation also worked without any difficulty.

(failed install on a previous beta)
