One day we got a message say

Yes, I also have this problem, I'm playing Far Cry 2 in Hamachi v1.0.1.5 and I also have this error. If i update Hamachi to a newer version we can't play any games over Hamachi...

If you are referring to the IP alias feature(needed to have C class addresses) then you should be able to use the it again in the most recent version. We have just put it back.

Otherwise there should be no difference between H1 and H2.

Re: Hamachi 1.0.1.5 win7

No, a number of games pretty much require hamachi 1.0.1.5 to host/play multiplayer properly, as far as i know.

I tried newer hamachis and they do not work as good as 1.0.1.5, or do not work at all with a number of games.

Please return 1.0.1.5 version back if possible, or make 1.0.1.5 version compatible with this new stuff.

Re: Hamachi 1.0.1.5 win7

Hi,

it is not possible to support those versions again. They are very old and cannot handle some features which are essential for the product.

We can implement what you guys need in newer version, but in order to do that we need to know what's missing. In other words: why can't you use the current version?

As far as I know the only difference was the ip alias feature and we've already put it back. If there's something else, please let me know.

Re: Hamachi 1.0.1.5 win7

Hi pz,

signed up here to respond because this thread was too limited. I had been using Hamachi 1.0.1.5 for a very long time because later versions did not work for older games anymore. When version 2.x came out, I still stuck to the old version, downloaded it specifically to play old games and avoided the new one like the pest.

I cannot elaborate on the technical side but what happened was this:

- With 1.0.1.5 started up, game servers without manual IP function would auto-detect the Hamachi IP 5.x.y.z as the current local IP. Instead of using DHCP standard 192.x.y.z, they used the Hamachi IP if Hamachi had been started up prior to the game, thus making the game accessible inside the network for every connected player.

- Later versions did not manage to overwrite the DHCP address anymore. Regardless of Hamachi being started and online, the games would always start up servers using the local 192.x.y.z address, thus enabling access only for actually LAN connected computers since 192.x.y.z was restricted to local clients, which is why we used Hamachi in the first place.

This means that whatever change came after 1.0.1.5 probably caused older games not to identify the Hamachi network adapter's IP as the one to connect to.

Games in question are, non-exclusively, Counterstrike 1.6, Battlefield 1942, SWAT 4 and some other stuff that caused problems with direct online play. The loss of functionality concerning these games is what made me and the friends I was playing with refrain from using the new version. Even though I haven't used Hamachi in a while now due to having moved on to other games that worked flawlessly, the thought of later versions not working stuck with me. If you can make sure the original functionality is restored, the problem is solved.

Cheers. Funky.
