Hamachi Mobile for iOS and Android (BETA)

[ Edited ]

Hi All,

I'm happy to announce the open preview of the Hamachi mobile client, a great new tool for bringing Hamachi networks into reach from an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet!

Try it!

Here’s what you do:

  1. Log in to the preview site with your usual LogMeIn ID: https://preview.logmein.com
  2. Add mobile clients and configure how you want them to connect.
To do this, click Add Client and select Add mobile client. Then simply follow the on-screen instructions.

Keep in mind that the mobile client is deployed by sending the required VPN settings in a configuration file via email; it is not an app you download from a store. As a result, there are a few restrictions:

  • A device can join one gateway network or multiple meshed and hub-and-spoke networks
  • There is no peer-to-peer connection from the device

Here’s a little tip: If you have connection problems, go to the Preview site > Edit Client > Mobile tab and check the Last login field for the result of the last connection attempt.

Let us know what you think at our LogMeIn.com email of Hamachi-Feedback.

PS:  You may be prompted for a PIN Code when setting up the VPN.  This is your Device's Unlock code, and it is not being requested by us.

Note: The mobile client is free to use during preview, but is expected to be a premium feature upon release.

Thanks for finally getting this going for us long term Ham users.  I am a premium subscriber and I hope you mean it will be part of that service plan.  Is that right or wrong?

This is working great for my VNC service to all of my PCs I support.

Can't really comment on that, since it is still up in the air at this point.

Historically speaking, though, features that are Paid are merely added to the network license itself.

Thanks Sean for all you do.  I know you have to deal with us impatient users at times.  Smiley LOL

Hi Sean, I cant find the android app download mirror anywhere in the email. Even when I checked Send iOS or Send Other below the email and submit.

Thanks,

Ted

There is no App, the email will send you a configuration script and the certificates required to connect to the servers via your phones built-in VPN

Re: Hamachi Mobile for iOS and Android (BETA)

Having some difficulty getting the mobile client to work. Here's my first question. Using IPSec as the protocol, the preview image of my Android config shows what appears to be the default (or top line) choice in the pulldown menu for each of the three certificate options:

 IPSec user certificate

    (blank)

 IPSec CA certificate

    (don't verify server)

 IPSec server certificate

    (received from server)

Are those choices correct as shown (and should be reproduced in my config), or should the installed certificates be selected and named instead? If it's the latter, which certificates go on the user and server certificate lines?

Next question: for the PPTP protocol (yes, I've been trying both), is it correct that no certificates are used and therefore none are sent in the configuration email (even though the email continues to say "open the attachment on the device to apply the configuration")?

Thanks for help,

  -Stuart

Re: Hamachi Mobile for iOS and Android (BETA)

I'm following the instructins and click on the 'send other' button for Android but I don't get an email come through? Same happens for the iOS button too, no email.

Also is there no way to create the seetings for a mobile using a desktop computer at all? It's terribly slow and painfull to use a mobile phone to setup the mobile options.

Thanks

Russ

Check your spam filter.  We are definitely sending the email.

You could push the settings, but the cert needs to be installed on the phone, and unless you have a way of doing that, it won't work.
