Android 11 Gboard Support for Autofill

I saw the new version of Gboard on Android 11 has integrated password input. I would love to see LastPass support this.

@ahow628 Thank you... I do have the family version of LP so the cost isn't as much of an issue for me.

But, the 2FA code thing sounds intriguing. And, the Gboard thing is the real reason I would make the switch.

You can use it for free (slightly limited, I think), so it would be pretty easy to import your LP vault and try it out before going all in.

We are basically 1 year into Android 11 since the Developer Previews and now are on the cusp of Android 12.

LastPass: Why are you not able to add support for a standard Android feature that your competitors (Bitwarden, 1Password) have added? The lack of this feature makes the auto fill experience less than ideal.

Is this feature being considered for LastPass? I remember asking Support about it a long time ago and I'm floored it is still not offered. Android 12 will be out in a few weeks. Will it come then?

It's really looking like time to bail on LastPass.

BitWarden has it. Very glad I moved on from LastPass.

yawn. we're at what now? Android 12? Android 13 DP is out, so it means the API for Android 11 is nearly 2 years old....

Meanwhile, I moved to 1password, it supports this functionality very well.

Come on all y'all. I moved 1 year ago to 1Password and we're now 2+ years since the API for keyboard autofill has been out. Why are you doing this to yourselves? You know you want a feature like this (Bitwarden, 1Password, other competitors ALL have it)

The root cause of the problem problem is LastPass doesn't support Android 11 autofill. This is how Autofill on iOS has worked for years and why it's so reliable. As someone who used LastPass since 2012 or so on both iOS and Android, I can tell you the iOS experience is 100x better. Instead, the Lastpass app is relying on Android 8 Oreo API for autofill with the dropdowns which sometimes works and other times does not. It seems that turning off autofill and re-enabling autofill seems to get it to work again which leads me to believe some system level service gets killed off by the memory manager over time. This leads to a super subpar experience.

While competitors like 1Password and Bitwarden rushed to embrace autofill in the 2nd half of 2020, LastPass stayed stagnant. It is now 2022, 2 years since Android 11's API were made available to developers, and they still don't have the same feature.

For those of you willing to jump ship just look at how much better this autofill is. It works reliably and pops up all the time with password fields.
