Re: LastPass Android - Fail to authenticate with fingerprint

I've had the problem for a while (see posts) but the March Update did seem to resolve it. FYI, I didn't know this at first because I was running BitWarden for the last couple weeks. (Very nice pw manager, great security features, feels really pro and looked after - and just $10yr I believe)
Are you listening LASTPASS?

Anyhow, bc of this, autofill default app in language settings was turned off as well as any other Lastpass permissions. (Accessibility permission). So I emptied cache, uninstalled, reinstalled, gave back permissions and the fingerprint issue was fixed.

Hope that maybe helps to get the March Update fix working.

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

I have the a few phones all of which have been suffering with biometric issue for many months but after reading the post from another contributor I have been able to get all phones working again after the March security update was installed

1. Open Lastpass on Android
2. Open the menu icon top left
3. Press the gear icon bottom left
4. Press Actions
5. Press Clear LastPass Cache
6. Press Refresh Vault

This has resolved the issue on Pixel 4a, Xiaomi Mi A2 and Xiaomi Mi A3

I hope this helps someone else

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

Same issue here on OnePlus 7 Pro with Microsoft Edge browser. My phone has an on screen fingerprint reader.

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

Same issue on OnePlus Nord, it's been bugged for a long time now and I already had a chat with support, they have no clue how to fix this. Sad times for lastpass, especially after forcing users to pay a subscription to sync across devices.

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

This is now working for me *sometimes* (including just now when I logged in to post this comment), but not other times, on my fully updated Pixel 3A XL. The process is complicated, I think, by my wintry dry skin, which is resulting in uneven results reading my fingerprints - when trying to authenticate LastPass on a website (the topic of this thread) or other things like unlocking my phone. But I do believe there is improvement. I just wish a representative from LastPass would let us know what the official status is.

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

I'm having the exact same issue on a Oneplus 8T. Tried all the suggestions in this thread, to no avail. It's now been about three months since this was first reported here and since support started "working on it". And they still haven't provided any significant updates beyond "we have no ETA". I've been a paid subscriber for many years and recommend Lastpass every chance I get, but if this doesn't get fixed *very* soon me and my family subscription will move over to Bitwarden. This makes Lastpass extremely inconvenient to use on Android -- for a product that is supposed to offer "convenient password management" as one of its benefits! For a paid product, support should be MUCH MUCH more responsive than this.

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

There is some improvement for apps, browsers and web site code that provide direct access to the new Android autofill service, but for anything that relies on legacy accessibility its still broken. The app doesn't gracefully allow to have both the autofill and accessibility hack turned on, they stomp all over each other, popping up when I dont need both, not popping anything up when I want one, and not working with fingerprint part of that time. Other password mgrs have committed to putting it in the keyboard and it is slick. Lastpass is a dinosaur. Its annoying to say the least.

@jfederline

Does the LastPass app support the new Android 11 Autofill API? I recall they do not and they still haven't as of early this year.

Re: LastPass Android app fails to authenticate with fingerprint

My guess is "no".  According to the document you posted, "input method editors" like LastPass should be able to display autofill suggestions in-line, rather than in a drop-down.  I have Android 11 on my Pixel 3a XL phone, and the LastPass app version 5.0.1.6470 (updated 4/12/2021), and it does the auto fills with drop downs.

It does successfully authenticate with my fingerprint, in both Chrome and in other apps, without crashing those apps.   So I'm pretty satisfied now.
