Lastpass doesn't autofill Password for Bank of America app

Lastpass will autofill the username, but doesn't autofill the password. So it recognizes the BofA app, and the username filed, but is failing on the password field. This should be something  Lastpass could easily fix.

This looks to be an issue with how the Bank of America app is designed/coded and not something that is controlled or fixable by LastPass. Per this other thread on a similar topic, app developers are supposed to associate a URL with their app in order to make a connection and allow password managers to correctly autofill credentials for the app and the Bank of America app does not seem to have this associated URL and the correct "connection" can't be made to autofill the credentials successfully. Unfortunately there's nothing you can to force this connection as this is something the app developer would need to add on their end.

That's not really a pertinent answer. I never saw that behavior (not showing the Lastpass autofill at all).

What I see is that Lastpass *will* show an autofill overlay on the login screen for the BofA app. So there must be some URL association going on. I can send you a screenshot of that if you like.

But after I fill it out the userID and go to the password field,  the Lastpass autofill overlay fails to reappear to allow me to fill in the password.

So Lastpass seems to be recognizing the app and the userID field, but not the password field. 

This behavior has been going on over a year but used to work.

BofA has over 65 million customers in the US, and should be supported if possible.

Apologies as I'm not sure what troubleshooting steps have already been tried, but could you try removing the entry for the app/site in the Vault, then re-adding it to see if it will then be recognized in the app? Please do note that not all apps will work with LastPass' autofill due to how they are coded/designed which is outside of LastPass' control, and may be causing the password field to not correctly trigger autofill. 

If you have access to LastPass on a computer browser, we would also recommend trying to add an entry for the Bank of America site using the Save All Entered Data method below, which should also sync with your mobile device but may not change the behavior of logging in on the Bank of America app:

  • Delete the existing entry for Bank of America in your Vault.
  • In your web browser, navigate to the login page of the site. Enter your login credentials, but do not log in.
  • Click the LastPass browser icon, then go to Add item > Save All Entered Data at the bottom of the menu. Tip: For Internet Explorer users, click the active LastPass icon, then go to Tools > Save All Entered Data.
  • All captured fields are displayed. If desired, enter more information and specify your desired settings for the item.
  • Click Save when finished.
