I use Lastpass premium and have enabled two factor authentication. I bought a new phone, installed Lastpass and Lastpass authenticator. I moved the SIMs from my old phone to my new phone. I can log onto Lastpass on the new phone but it will not enable the authenticator on the new phone, it always tries to use the old phone's Authenticator app. So I am able to log in, but have to keep the old phone with wifi around to authenticate. How do I set up the authenticator on the new phone? When I open Authenticator on new phone, it has no options to turn it on and it keeps trying to set itself up to authenticate other accounts like Google. I just want the Lastpass authenticator to authenticate. I searched around the forum and the net and cannot find any solutions. I also tried to disable two factor authentication but that generated an error when I accessed the email link on my PC.
I tried that. Did backup to lastpass on Authenticator on old phone. Did restore on authenticator on new phone. It asked me which account to restore, I selected my account, then got the message "we are unable to find anything to restore".
Found the problem. I had removed the old phone from the list of Lastpass approved mobiles. In spite of that, the Authenticator was working on my old phone, which seems like a bug to me. I did not notice that when I asked for a backup on the old phone, it told me that the backup failed (my mistake). So I re-enabled the old phone as an approved mobile using my pc, did the backup on the old phone, did the restore on the new phone, and it seems to work.

Removing your old phone from your approved list means that LP account will not function on that phone. However, existing 2FA tokens are completely local, and does not require LP account to function. Only backup/restore require your LP account.
I couldn't see any option to restore from backup. I had to delete and reinstall the app. Then I lost the account (LastPass) I had added before I deleted, of course. Now I can't see how to generate a new barcode to add it back in. No doubt I'll get a prompt at some point
Hi, Did you resolve this? I have the same issue of not getting a barcode after I enabled the LP authenticator. User manual says it should open up a new tab which does not happen. Thanks for your feedback! Regards, Ruud
This is a total nightmare for me. I must have more than 30 MFA accounts on my lastpass authenticator. Now, in my attempt to move to a new phone, it appears everything is gone! I keep getting 'nothing to restore' on both old and new phones! It's definitely going to take a few days to get access into all my accounts!
