LP Menu Bar Icon Missing/Not working Firefox 57 Quantum

I just installed the latest Lastpass add-on (4.2.1.21) for Firefox 56 Quantum but the LP icon is missing in the menu bar and not working on web forms. It's like it never actually was installed. But it shows in my list of installed add-ons in FF.

I tried removing and reinstalling the add-on (with a browser restart in between) with no luck.

There is a space for the icon, but it's missing...

You see the LassPass tool tip when you over over the space...

You can click on the space, but nothing really happens. You get a blank box...

Any help appreciated.

Try using the extension outside of private browsing mode.

I'm not using private browsing. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you?

Never mind. I restarted my FF57 browser 4 times in a row out of curiosity and on the 4th time the LP add-on started working. :?

Re: LP Menu Bar Icon Missing/Not working Firefox 57 Quantum

My apologies - there is a known issue with the LastPass menu not appearing in a private browsing window with the new WebExtension version. I saw the darker colored theme in your example screenshots, and incorrectly assumed it was a private browsing session. I'm glad that you were able to eventually resolve the problem.

So? Are the devs addressing this issue? If so, can we be apprised of their progress and an estimate of when it will be fixed? If they do not intend to fix the issue, can we also be informed of that? I had ALWAYS set FF to private window mode prior to version 57. If the devs do not intend to enable the functionality of LastPass in private mode we need to know.

They are aware of the problem. Outside of the menu, the extension is otherwise functional in private browsing mode. You'll just need to sign in from a non-private window in the meantime.

jpenny84, I do appreciate your timely response. However, I don't understand what you mean.

I do, of course, sign in from the non-private window (can't do it from the private window). However, once signed in, if I then launch the private window...and the LP icon displays in red (implying functionality)....if I click on the icon then it does nothing. Just shows the "blank box" image referred to by zquest in his/her OP.

I guess what I don't understand is the "outside of the menu" qualifier of your explanation. Bottom line is I can't get the extension to be "functional in private browsing mode". Thanks in advance for any further help you might offer.

Re: LP Menu Bar Icon Missing/Not working Firefox 57 Quantum

Av8rix: I don't use Private Browsing, but I just tested it out and it looks like what jpenny84 means is you can use LP within the login forms on the page when using private browsing. If the LP icons do not appear in the login form, then use the right-click context menu to fill-in the login forms (right-click on a form field >> select LastPass >> select Autofill >> select [site]). This will populate the login form with your ID and passwords.

So, given that the LP menu bar icon doesn't work in private mode, you won't be able to access your vault via the toolbar icon in private browsing. Therefore, if this is a problem, you may want to bookmark your lastpass vault login page to your Bookmarks toolbar for convenience. I believe the universal Vault login URL would be https://lastpass.com/?ac=1

Heck, now that I think of it, if you do bookmark the vault to your bookmarks toolbar, there would be no need to sign into LP using the non-private browser. You can just open a private browser window, click on the LP vault bookmark, log in and you're done, even if you close out the vault window you will still be logged for that session as far as you LP browser add-on is concerned.
