Great work rpspiker
I guess the question for LastPass is why the fudge on update.. please ask something like - do you want to try the new interface? because it's experimental and definateley doesn't work well for everyone yet. we won't hide the rollback in the advanced options, four clicks away and virtually undiscoverable.
and on literally the first screen of the new interface a button "new interface not working.. click/tap here to revert to the previous version"
I remember rolling out a new authentication scheme for a business app.. high risk.. lots of opportunity for us to fail, we put in so many fail safes.. made it so easy to return to the previous version.
Confirmed, disabling "Use improved save and fill" in the advanced settings restored the functionality I was looking for! They really screwed this extension up though, wow.
I just saw that version 4.108.1.7 was available for Firefox and against my better judgement, I installed it. Shockingly, it works great and still looks like the older versions as long as that switch in the vault advanced options is off. I haven't tried it with the switch on and have no desire to.
Thank you!!! I found where to toggle this off in Advanced Options in the vault.. My old extension preferences now work.
As a paying long time user of Lastpass, this has to be the worst update. It is being addressed?
I'm on 110.1 and it seems to be improving over time. After I first posted on this thread I submitted a few comments to the help pages (don't ask me where, they are always changing). I actually got a phone call in return from a live person. We actually a very pleasant extended conversation. I explained my concerns and problems and he seemed to take some interest in them. At any point I'm seeing progress that has help stifle my beast, as my wife says.
I use the advanced selection because I like the convenience of the icons for pulling the choices for that site. The biggest downside to the menus from the icons in the login and from the main icon is that they hang around too long. If you have more than one login choice the login icon menu hangs down over the password line and the actual login buttons. The large dropdown menu from the main icon and in the vault also hang down there after a selection is made, blocking a whole lot of screen content. They're the only programmed menus I can ever remember that don't disappear immediately after you click on them.
I do have to say they gave me the impression that somebody there gives a dang. Almost like 20 years ago! Try some serious writes into the help area with suggestions about specific changes you'd like. No rants or threats to go elswhere. They don't work. By the by, I just got a screen drop down saying there's a new udate out, 111.0.
ooof.
between the lastpass hack, the dubious delivery of information to consumers, and the major failure that started this thread with LP plugin; I punted and jumped to 1Password.
I highly recommend the move. The primary fundamental difference is there's an thick application that runs on the host (windows, mac, etc) and the web plugins talk to the local application.
How many times with lastpass have you updated a password in Chrome and immediately tried to use it in Firefox and NO JOY. 1Password does not have that issue because there's ONE application (that all local web plugins talk to -- and subsequently the app stores your info in cloud account).
Also, you can store multiple URLS per site password. I frequently encounter need where depending on how I arrive at specific site authentication, the URL is different. I need upwards of two to three URLS for some site credentials and 1Password it's easy. Note: this may be possible with LP but it was never super obvious.
Finally, you can store encrypted notes in 1Password and viewing them doesn't require you to EDIT the entry (like in LP...booooooo).
