LastPass extension does not require typing Master Password

LastPass extension is already active when opening browser. No need to type account login data.

It is observed in Firefox (cleared history and all websites in FF own password manager)

Maybe other browsers have automatic acces to the account login data.

Thank you for assistance

Re: LastPass extension does not require typing Master Password

Hi @Merel1,

This can happen depending on the Automatic Log Out settings for your LastPass extension. To check these settings, follow these steps:

  • Click the LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar.
  • Go to Account Options or click your email at the bottom of this menu > Extension Preferences
  • Make sure that the "Log out when all browsers are closed" or "Log out after this many minutes of inactivity" settings are enabled and set to your preference.
  • Next, click Advanced on the left side menu of Extension Preferences and make sure "Share login state between browsers" is not enabled.
  • Click Save and test again.

This should make it such that your LastPass extension is logged out when your browser is closed, or after a certain number of minutes of inactivity.

Re: LastPass extension does not require typing Master Password

Thank you very much, RachelO.  The setting is deep hidden

I'm not convinced that sharing the MasterPassword is the best idea.
Anyway,  it works as I prefer now.👍
