LastPass not automatically saving passwords on Safari, and minimizes safari on its own

I'm facing two issues, running LastPass on Big Sur macOS. I have both the Safari extension and LastPass Application installed on my computer:
a) whenever I log into a website that LastPass has not saved a password for, the LastPass application on my computer minimizes safari... I think it is trying to open the app and save a password, but the LastPass app doesn't even open. It just takes me to my desktop, and nothing more happens.
b) This leads me to the second problem, where LastPass never saves passwords when I log in to new websites. For example, I've never logged into Facebook with LastPass installed, and yet there is no prompt to save my entered password when I log in. Even when I click on the LastPass logo in the login text boxes, it minimizes safari and nothing else happens, leading back to problem A.

Can anybody help here? It'd be nice for LastPass to not ruin my workflow AND not even help save my various passwords...

Hi @nliberman,

Could you try uninstalling the LastPass mac app by quitting and dragging the app from your Applications folder to the Trash and emptying the Trash, restarting your computer, then reinstalling from here (not the mac app store) to see if it fixes this issue? https://lastpass.com/download/

For specific steps showing how to reinstall the LastPass mac app correctly please see here: https://support.logmeininc.com/lastpass/help/how-do-i-install-the-safari-app-extension-on-my-mac-lp0...
