Hello Community,
For my job I copy & paste many URLs. LastPass (free version) is offering to save many of them and I have to dismiss the message every time. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change to prevent this?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Definitely not expected to be prompted here. Any chance you can share the website where this occurs so we can prioritize a fix for it?
In the meantime you can also disable the prompt by doing the following:
1. Right click on the LP icon
2. Click on Options
3. Go to Notifications
4. Uncheck "Offer to save addresses"

Thanks for the reply. I followed your instructions (and also found the Notifications settings on the desktop app and changed the setting there). That worked! But when I toggled "offer to save addresses" back on to test a few websites and report back to you, the glitch was gone. Previously I know it happened when I was sharing links to dropbox files/folders. Could it have been recognizing websites I have stored credentials for and offering to add the URLs to the records for those sites? Who knows. If it starts happening again I'll come back here and update you.
I'm back to share that after I re-enabled "offer to save addresses" AND restarted, my LastPass account has tried to save absolutely every copied/pasted link. And sometimes it holds up the pasting process until I dismiss the popup. Here's a batch from today. I am going to go ahead and change the preferences so this doesn't continue. Good luck to developers trying to eliminate this headache for others! I'm using Chrome, if that helps.
Thanks for getting back to us @nrflist ! Could you possible share any more details about how you are copy/pasting the urls? Does this only happen when copy/pasting URLs or also any other text? Does it only happen on a certain website that has the links you are copying? Do you use another extension to copy/paste perhaps?
Thank you for the details. We can reproduce the issue and are investigating.
Hi,
I have the same experience. However, I find it happens for any text I paste into the gmail link dialog box. The text can be an actual URL, a filename and path, or just any random text.
I'm using Chrome with the LastPass extension. I also have
Full example using file and path name (works exactly the same as a URL or any_text). ()ee below for an example with just text.) I copy a URL from one chrome tab (highlight the URL, ctrl-c) In gmail, I highlight the text I want to show for the link:
type ctrl-k brings up the link dialog box
ctrl-v to paste the link into the dialog box.
Then click on "OK" Each time I do this, LastPass asks me if I want to save the URL.
Abbreviated example with any text (in this case: Then click on "OK")
OTOH, if I only paste the URL directly into the gmail message, last pass does not offer to add the URL
Similarly, if I use the same process inside of a google doc, lastpass does not ask me to "add address"
