WOL not (no longer) working

Hi,

For some reason WOL is no longer working. (IE the PC appears completely offline and WOL function is not there in logmein)

the only thing i changed recently was forward port 85 (have a wireless security camera connected to my router & this is needed to have access from distance)

But this doesn't seem to be it, as always had other ports forwarded as well, plus I understand with magic packet this doesn't matter...?

Funny enough i can WOL my pc when using http://wakeonwan.webou.net/ and there after use logmein.

Where are things going wrong?

The specific requirement is that another computer on the same network must be on and and connected to our site.  It does not, however, have to be attached to your account.

Re: WOL not (no longer) working

Is there really no one that can help me on this? it's driving me crazy..

To give some more info

- My OLD pc was connected (via ethernet) to the router & WOL worked fine.

- I then ALSO connnected the NEW pc (via ethernet) but could not get WOL to work

- Then WOL on OLD pc stopped working as well

- I then connected both pc's seperately (ie, not both at same time) =  no WOL on either

- I reinstalled logmein on both Pc's = Nothing

- I completely reset my router to 'factory' = no WOL

- WOL does work when BOTH pc's are connected & one is switched on

(ie, WOL works on the other)

- I also CAN WOL with a website (like the one mentioned in my 1st post)

(so that means logmein WOL should work as wel, or....????)

Actually the WOL feature of LMI requires that you have at least one PC with LMI up and running within the network to be able to WOL another computer. At least thats what their literature says and what my experience has been over the last 5 years.

Re: WOL not (no longer) working

thanks,

but my old PC did work with WOL in the past when it was the only one connected to the router..

but i guess the only solution is to activate via a website 1st...

Re: WOL not (no longer) working

You were lucky, and I wish I knew how you accomplished the feat. It would be very helpful for some of my places.

Re: WOL not (no longer) working

my router comes from my internet provider here in France (www.freee.fr) and it's their own brand.  As such I can not give you a "reference". (not that it matters, cos i  imagine every router works pretty much the same...)

however I'll continue my search and if i ever find the solution i'll let you know righ here :-)

Meantime thanks for your input!
