Coming Later This Year: Passkeys in Your Vault

LastPass is excited to announce that support for passkeys is coming later this year.  You will be able to save and access passkeys right in your LastPass vault, alongside your passwords and other security credentials.

What is a passkey?

Passkeys are a replacement for passwords that provide faster, easier, and more secure sign-ins to websites and apps across a user’s devices.  Passkeys are aligned to FIDO2 standards, so you get validation that you are meeting the strongest security standards that exist.

How do passkeys work with my vault?

Storage and use of a passkey to log into sites in your vault will closely mirror the login experience of using a password – but what is happening in the background is much more secure.

As passkeys become more widely available as a login option across websites and applications, LastPass will be there to seamlessly support you.

Will we be able to sign in to LastPass with passkeys?  Right now the "passwordless" solution is not passwordless.  We always have to bootstrap a new session with our master password...

Looking forward to passkey login in addition to the already supported 2FA with passkeys.  I use YUBI keys and this will go a long, long way towards security for those master keys.
