Need a landline for a Grasshopper number?

Hi, Do we need a landline number to use Grasshopper or can we actually just pay for a number in Grasshopper? Feels like it could be our current situation. We are wondering if our 855 number is linke...

Thank you for your answer. So that would mean our 855 number is not dependant on any phone line we could have, correct? And no landline is actually transferred to that 855 number?

That is correct, and if you are using Grasshopper on a computer with our desktop app, it just needs a stable internet connection. So you could get rid of your landline and just use the desktop app and your mobile phones (which do need an active number).
