The current behavior of meeting recording is that video will only be recorded when screen sharing is active. When screen sharing is not active, the recording will be audio only. This prevents recordings from capturing the participant's webcam video during a meeting.
This is not what is expected in 2024, and puts GoTo behind other online conferencing platforms. The expectation of users today is that everything in the meeting window will be included in the recording when the meeting is being recorded, regardless of the sharing status. This limitation puts GoTo Meeting in the class of audio conferencing services, not video conferencing services for the purposes of meeting recordings that do not involve a presentation.
This is important during meetings where capturing on-camera actions, reactions, and other visual aspects of the meeting are important. This may include, for example, facial cues during discussions to determine the mood and intent of the speaker, physical actions such as the raising of hands when taking votes, requesting the floor in a meeting, or capturing on-screen real-time transcriptions of the meetings.
If the information is present on the organizer's GoTo Meeting window, it should be captured as part of the meeting recording.
