Not so much a question as a feature request. (I thought we had a category for that.)
Please add the ability for an organizer to allow a specific
panelist (or all panelists) to view ALL questions.
Currently, must promote them to Organizer, which gives them the power to END the meeting. I always warn them
when it's necessary to do this. I point out Exit Webinar vs End
Webinar should they need to withdraw from the session. It has still happened by accident.
It also gives them too many other powers, like ability to dismiss people. Mostly it works out okay, until the curious "organizer" starts clicking on options!

Other webinar systems I have used have permitted organisers to open up the chat and/or Q&A, so attendees can see the questions others are posing. This would be so helpful for some of the webinars I run.
It would be even better if this was enabled together with the ability of attendees to 'upvote' the questions, so you could see at a glance which questions are most popular.
The absence of these features really counted against GoToWebinar when I weighed up the different webinar options on the market, and made it a much closer run than it should have been!

While GoToWebinar Organizers can make an Attendee question public one by one, the default behavior is for privacy in this regard.
There is currently no function for 'upvoting', however you could make a Polling Question on the fly (while in session) which reflects a particular question asked.

Yes, but it is not really just "by default" that questions are private...there is no way to change this setting. That's what I was suggesting should change.
For some of my webinars, I receive a lot of feedback saying "I wish we could have seen the questions other people were asking" and, sometimes, I would like to at least have the option to switch that on. It does exist as an option, I believe, in GoToTraining, so it must be possible, technically.
I hadn't thought of the polling on the fly option to achieve the 'upvoting' - although that would rely on having one or two people helping me deliver the webinar, as this isn't something I could do while presenting. Also, I am not sure it quite as neat as upvoting. It feels a little bit like I am exposing the people who asked the losing questions by doing it in a poll.
Other systems - like WebinarJam and BigMarker - just this open chat and upvoting stuff pinned down. I chose GoToWebinar because, in other respects, the product wins through. But it was a much closer call than it should have been, given that GoToWebinar doesn't have these increasingly standard options.

I support this. We get many presenters that would prefer to have the audience help decide which questions to cover during Q&A. And instead of getting the same question over and over, they can just 'upvote' it.
This could be a feature to turn on/off as needed. Privacy doesn't have to be an issue because the attendees would only need to see the question but not who asked it.
A great alternative would be to have two options for attendees -
Ask a general, public question
Private question sent only to organizers
I also get feedback from both presenters and attendees constantly on this. Biggest reason that we also use Zoom for webinars because the attendees cannot see the Questions coming in GoToWebinar. To compete with Zoom, GoToWebinar should absolutely create an option to allow attendees to see the Questions (just like we have one for them to see the attendee list) so we can decide for ourselves what level of moderation each session will have. Sometimes we want the Questions open, and sometimes we want it more closed. Would be nice to have a checkbox option.

We have used GoToWebinar and GoToMeeting for over 5 years and love the webinar experience. However, we also have to use other webinar companies as well to cover the areas you don't (hosted videos, stand alone testing, etc.). We wanted to use GoToWebinar 100% for all our webinars but the ability (on non-ability) for the attendees to communicate or even view the questions asked has kept up from the switch. We would use GoToMeeting that has this functionality but we have over 25 attendees in all of our sessions. I am requesting for there to be a choice while setting up a class (or in-class) to let the attendees view the question or chat dialogue box. It is available in GoToMeeting. Why not GoToWebinar?
Thanks- Yes I would like this ability as well. I see no reason why I wouldn't want everyone to see the questions. This should be an option. Right now they can only see questions after we answer. We get the same questions over and over because no one can see existing questions.
- I'm surprised this has not been added, nor a chat area that all can see. This is so behind the tech times for webinars and virtual meetings. Why does nit not exist in GTW? Our attendees are so used to it and now they are complaining.

- I am having the same problem. My panelists can't see the questions that attendees are asking. Only I can see them. What I am doing wrong here?

Panelists can only see questions that are assigned to them by organizers. Both organizers and panelists can answer privately to an attendee or to the entire audience.

The quickest solution is to make one of your Panelists a Co-Organizer and have them manage the Questions for you. To do this simply right click on the Panelists name in your Control Panel and select Make Organizer. - How can I make my Panelists co-organizers? Help!

Not sure if anyone else uses this strategy, but during our webinars, I (the organizer) appoint one panelist (the "filter guy") to delegate questions to the rest of the panel. I assign all questions to that the "filter guy", who then reads the questions aloud during a Q&A session at the end of the presentation, and the other panelists can answer.
Ideally, we'd like to be able to assign questions to ALL panelists, so they can see the questions and formulate their answers in advance. Is there a way to do this, or is one in the works?
Currently, our workaround is this: the "filter guy" can copy and paste the question into a private chat message to the panelist he wants to delegate the question to, so that panelist can be ready to answer when the Q&A time comes. - This idea would be of great help or the option to assign a questions to multiple presenters. I may not want the presenters to have to weed through attendee technical questions or basic administrative questions, but I may also need more than one presenter to be able to see a question if I don't know who will want to field it.
- I do it all the time and know the work arounds but I'd still like to see if that the panelist can see the question box without making them an organizer. I don't like they can start broadcast, launch polling, end webinar for all, only because they were made an organizer. Like I said I know the work arounds but I still would like to put this request out there!
Thanks- Oh, I agree. I also would like them to be able to see the polls on the screen. I understand the complications, but it would be easier if they could see them on the screen, not just in the control panel.
- I always give presenters keyboard and mouse control to a second computer I have so they do get to see the polling like the attendees but the presenters don't get to see the percentages as they're rolling in. For our purposes the faculty just seeing the results at the end like the attendees is good enough.
I'm sure eventually the tool will be so advanced that during the set up you'll be able to select what controls you provide each presenter in case you wanted some to have all admin rights and some just access to the q n a .

That's just wrong. Presenters are typically just that, only presenting and doing questions at the end. A presenter should be able to see the q and a box and not have to be made an organizer to do so.

I find the Questions Panel in GoToWebinar challenging. I set up a webinar and invited a couple of experts as panelists. However, they couldn't see the questions unless I assigned a particular question to them. Why not allow my "experts" to see all the questions and help to provide the answers. It is very hard to "assign" the questions that come in rapidly. It required me to read the question, understand which panelist to select, and then assign it.
So, I thought, maybe I can turn off the questions completely and just use chat. Nope, apparently not. About halfway through some attendees were using the Questions panel and some were using Chat. I'd like a little more control over what the attendees can use, and I should be able to give blanket access to the Questions panel for the panelists.
