Can't hear anyone on Windows 7 Home Premium

Just installed Office 2013, running on Windows 7 Home Premium and all worked well until last week.

Now everything is working fine, mic set up correctly, sound check etc. on GTM all checks out, but....I can't hear anyone joined to my meetings, basically as if they are muted and yes, I have unticked and ticked those fields to check.

Mic and headset seem to be working fine according to my PC!

I had the same problem , including sound check working fine but no ability to hear any participants.
the problem was on the sound quality settings -  Control Pannel -> Sound -> Speakers ... -> Advanced tab 
Set sound quality at 96K 24bit solved my problem
