HI,
Yesterday the PC we regularly use to host our meeting stated failing to open meetings from the browsers, stating 12029 error.
Since changing browsers, clearing caches, uninstaling AV and disabling the firewall didn`t fix the issue I uninstalled Goto Opener and reinstalled it when prompted upon Meeting creation.
now, this seems to have installed a quite different, "Goto" branded, version, which, regardless of wheteher I like it or not, leaves me with some questions:
The browser stays in a page that says (but in spanish) "Join the meeting with Goto's desktop application" and a download button, but although it is already installed it does not lauch it, like it used to.
Furthermore, it just stays there with a spinner in the browser tab as if it was doing something, it shows some sort of "waiting for ..." text in the browser's status bar, and has that Download button tha most likely is not needed since the launcher already installed and will most likely be very confusing for our non tech-savy antendees.
Is any of these a new expected behavior or things are acting up in our end?
FWIW, Host system is running win 8.1 and Chrome 100.
Thanks in advance.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Today we made some changes to the launch infrastructure, affecting older OS that were not compatible with TLS 1.2. Please let us know if you experience any more problems joining GoTo events.
Thanks for your patience.
Hi,
It seems a couple of times it eventually reached a page wich has an "Open in my desktop application" button instead of the one to download Opener.
If I click that button, however, it does nothing.
The button has link staring with "gotoopener://meet.servers.getgo.com/[long string here]"
I'd say that at somepoint the knowledge of how to handle a "gotoopener://" link has been lost.
There might be something else going on as the whole opener seems to go undetected most of the times.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi @mediateca
That specific error message relates to a local connection error, often caused by a firewall or security setting.
If you've already tried testing an alternate web browser with the same results, then I would check your local security next.
You might even try safemode if you've also tested the launch flow after uninstalling the antivirus / firewall.
Helo @AshC thank you for your feedback
I should have clarified that after the upgrade the 12029 is not showing and I am "stuck" in the page telling me to download the new Goto Opener.
Today, inspecting that page with Chrome dev tools, I`ve found this error, which I believe reinforces my suspicion that Opener is not properly registered somewhere and therefore neither Chrome nor Firefox can launch it:

Firefox, in turn, shows these:

I really don't think there's anything blocking outgoing connections from this PC. Starting Meeting and Webinar from the New Opener or their dedicated desktop icons does work.
It seems that now the only issue occurs when the browser attempts to start a new Meeting from the online web interface and fails to launch the New Opener.
I use google calendar to create and open my meetings. Suddenly it stopped working. To be specific goto opener gives the 12029 error. I have tried all the solutions described in the forum, but it did not help. The log data:

Cloud you please advise my how to fix it.
My internet options:
Good morning, I believe there might be some kind of bug in the new GoTo and GoToOpener. For the last week or so all my machines in my org are getting an error 12029 when atteempting to join a meeting from the link shared when creating a meeting. If you join the meeting direct from the app, everything works fine.
Upon further investigation, I noticed this error in the dev console of Chrome and Edge:
Failed to launch 'gotoopener://meet.servers.getgo.com/.resolve/e30.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.e30' because the scheme does not have a registered handler.
After doing some research, I looked at my registry and noticed under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT there's a GoTo key, where the command is configured for "C:\Users\XXXXXXXXXX\AppData\Local\Programs\goto\GoTo.exe" --open-url="%1
On a hunch, I took the URL I found in the console, change it from gotoopener and made it 'goto://meet.servers.getgo.com/.resolve/e30.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.e30'
and then Chrome and Edge both opened the GoTo app as expected. This was also after a fresh uninstall of GoTo/GoToMeeting, reset and clear of the cache.
To further verify, I change the GoTo key to GoToOpener and the app opened properly from the URL. Unfortunately, it still does not open the meeting, but at least the app now opened and I no longer saw the registered handler issue.
@TWOSK What happens when you log in through goto.com/meeting and host a meeting that way?
Do you see the same behavior in alternate web browsers?
@AshC thank you for reply.
Same behavior with edge and chrome.
Same happens going to goto.com/meeting
----
I have noticed that some of my old invitations open for example:
Another old one does not open: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.gotomeet.me/MariusZygaitis&sa=D&source=calendar&usd=2&usg=A...
Doing it via goto.com/meeting:
https://meet.goto.com/262982189 - does not work.
I am using old app, because the new one does not have all functions, like pause sharing.
I wanted to mention GoTo Opener no longer supports TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. This means TLS 1.2 must be enabled for use of the Opener, if not already.
1.2 is controlled via GPO, 1.0 and 1.1 disabled via GPO. 1.2 is the only protocol enabled and allowed.
