Why are the pause/share button color cues the opposite for PC and Mac users?

Our organization is beginning to adopt the new GTM UI. One of the first things I realized is that the pause/share screen button color cues are different for Mac and PC users. It's VERY confusing to try to explain the functionality to meeting attendees when I don't know what OS they're on.

While the border on the screen is the same for Macs and PCs (green border means you're sharing, orange border means you're paused), the buttons themselves are opposite and display different text.

When sharing, 1) the Mac button is green (matches the border) and says "You are sharing this screen", with a pause icon.  2) The PC button is orange (opposite of border), with a pause icon followed by the text "Pause sharing".

When paused, 1) the Mac button is orange (matches the border) and says "Sharing is paused", with a play icon. 2) The PC button is green (opposite of border), with a play icon followed by the text "Resume sharing".

Why????

For the record, I think the Mac experience makes more sense. And that's not just because I'm a Mac user.
