We can not customize who receives the certificate based on criteria at this time, though the team is considering this for sometime next year. I'll be sure to update the community when I hear more. Thanks again for taking the time to share your idea.
I currently use a third-party service, myCert.com, to issue certificates because it gives me the flexibility that GoToWebinar currently lacks. After exporting attendance data to Excel, I filter for participants who attended at least 70% of the session. myCert allows me to issue certificates only to those qualified attendees, using branded templates, automated emails, and a personal digital certificate wallet for recipients. Certificates can also be independently verified via a secure portal.
That said, I believe GoToWebinar could gain a significant advantage by investigating and implementing similar features directly within its platform. Specifically:
- Conditional certificate distribution (e.g. only send to attendees meeting time or engagement thresholds)
- Customizable certificate templates with dynamic fields (e.g. name, webinar title, hours attended)
- Built-in logic based on attendance/exported metrics
- A secure verification link or portal for third parties
- Certificate history for attendees across events
By offering a flexible, integrated certificate system with smart automation and analytics-based rules, GoToWebinar could provide high-value functionality not commonly available on other platforms-and save users from resorting to external solutions like mine.
