No video on GoToWebinar Recording, just audio

I just did a webinar, and clicked on 'Record' at the very beginning but it only recorded the audio, and not the video. I was showing my webcam, so don't understand how it didn't record everything??

Hi Greer,

Only the Online Recording feature will capture the shared webcams, shared screen and audio in your webinar, the recording feature that saves to your computer only captures the shared screen and audio. To make sure Online Recording is enabled on your account, please login on the website, select Settings and then Recording.

That would be nice to know BEFORE you blow a whole important meeting because it only recorded the audio.  Very disappointed in a service that wouldn't at least pop up a note saying this only records audio.  What good is that?  Will be looking for a new web meeting service.

GoToWebinar has a steep learning curve, because it has so many features, and more features being added all the time.  When I started using GoToWebinar you could not record webcams at all.  Now you can, but you need to know how to do it. 

 

I too have had webinar experiences not go the way I had planned, but have learned from each experience to do better the next time.

 

The one thing we keep stressing here on these discussion boards when anyone mentions they are trying something new is to set up a practice session and try it out.  After using GoToWebinar for over ten years, I often set up a practice session to test out something that I have never done before.

 

I've tried a lot of other similar programs, but have found nothing as stable as GoToWebinar.  Now that you have discovered these discussion boards, please let us know what new thing you are trying. There is a lot of expertise here ready to help out.

It appears that this is different from GotoMEETING which has none of those options.

Yes, GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar are similar, yet very different.

There are no settings for record video in the GotoMEETING setup.

For GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar

 

  • Local recording = screen share and audio only.
  • Online recording = webcams, screen share, and audio.

You can select which recording mode you want to use in your account settings.

Yes, we have found out the hard way that little fact.  A pop-up saying "Your Webcab will not be recorded" would have been something that quality software would have done.
