I had same problem and solve it this way:
Just before user name wirte \localaccount\
ex: User name is Paul , need write \localaccount\Paul

Lets restart that after 7 years...
I'm tha seme problema, but this time in windows 10.
After reset my pc, I can't acess more my notebokk... I already disable the share by password in control painel, but they continue asking for usermane and password and ever time retunr "usaername or passwork wrong... But is correct, I'm sure...
