Best practice to store shared passwords used on workgroup servers in the IT department

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out what's the best practice to store those shared passwords for workgroup servers.

That is servers not managed by a personal user (Windows AD Domain setup).

We have a lot of shared passwords for all sorts of things, that is kept very unsafe right now.

What is best practice since "Passwords" in Lastpass points to websites. Is it the use of "Notes"?
