Biometric Login On iPad

How do I set up biometric login on my iPad, so I can use my fingerprint to login instead of entering my LastPass Master Password?

Re: Biometric Login On iPad

Hello,

To set up Touch ID in the LastPass app, before you begin please be sure you have set up Touch ID in your iPad's settings first. Here's the steps to set up Touch ID in the LastPass app:

  1. Open the LastPass Password Manager app on your iOS device.
  2. Select Settings > Security.
  3. Toggle on the switch for Use Touch ID.
  4. Select OK to allow Touch ID for LastPass. Touch the Home button lightly (don't press) to scan your fingerprint.
  5. If you'd like to enable recovery via biometrics for the LastPass app as well, toggle on the switch for Account Recovery. Touch the Home button lightly (don't press) to scan your fingerprint.

You can now use Touch ID to log in to the LastPass app. We would also recommend adjusting the Auto Lock and Auto Logout settings in the Settings > Security area of the app as well to your preference. For example, if you only want to need to use your fingerprint to unlock the LastPass app once every 24 hours, the Lock Options setting should be set to 24 hours and Auto Logout should be set to Never.

Re: Biometric Login On iPad

Hello,
This procedure doesn't work on my iPad pro 2. I have the app set to logout on close. When I close LastPass, then reopen it, I'm not offered to use my thumb print for login. I'm forced to enter Master Password.
I also have an Android phone, and my thumb print works fine for login.
Thanks.

Re: Biometric Login On iPad

To be sure I understand the settings that are enabled for LastPass on your iPad, do you have the "Log Out on Close" setting turned on or is that setting turned off? Additionally, do you have the "Auto Logout" setting set to 8 hours or Never?

These settings can be accessed by going to the LastPass app > Settings > Security

Re: Biometric Login On iPad

Log Out On Close is turned on.

Auto Logout is set to Never.

Once again, this morning LastPass required me to enter my Master Password on my iPad, and did not offer the opportunity to use my thumbprint, even though I registered my print when I turned on the setting for Use Touch ID.

Re: Biometric Login On iPad

Thanks for that additional information, could you try uninstalling the LastPass app, restarting your device, then reinstalling (and re-enabling Touch ID in the LastPass app and setting the Auto Logout/Auto Lock settings to your preference) to see if that resolves this issue?

If this doesn't fix this issue, so that our team can gather more details to hopefully reproduce and fix this problem, please submit a bug report to our team by following the steps outlined here: https://support.logmeininc.com/lastpass/help/how-do-i-report-a-bug-to-lastpass

Re: Biometric Login On iPad

I followed your instructions by (1) uninstalling the app, (2) restarting my iPad, and (3) reinstalling the app.  After opening the app and logging in, the first action was to register my thumb print when the app suggested it.  Then I logged out by closing the app.  Upon reopening the app, I was not given an opportunity to login with my thumb print.  I was forced to enter my Master Password, as before.  Then the app seemed to work normally.

In other words, following your suggestion didn't change anything.

I couldn't find how to report a "bug" to support.  The link provided did not offer instructions how to do this.  Please provide better instructions, and I will attempt to report the "bug".  Thanks.
