Same problem on Pixel 4a5G and Firefox. The biometrics auth dialog pops up but neither of my two fingerprints works. This is the only app that shows this behavior. I end up logging in through the app directly. Overall, LP and FF support is pretty awful.
Thanks. I reconfirmed by enabling LastPass again (have since moved away to a competitor simply because of the lack of this feature), and you’re right. The auto fill API they are using is still the Android 8 API with the drop down.
Android 11’s keyboard based auto fill is better because it seems to solve the issue of the drop down not showing up often. Even though keyboards can sometimes fail to pop up when a user clicks on an input field, it still tends to be more reliable than the auto fill pop-up of Android 8.
I've had this issue since 2020 and even after switching phones, complete format, using Android 12 beta, and Android 11 I still get this issue.
At this point I'm already in the process of ditching LastPass. This issue is very breaking to my experience where now I have to manually open the app to authenticate before filling in passwords and the issue has been open for 7 MONTHS
Are the LastPass devs even working on this issue? From the comments above it seems like customers got a better answer than the devs....
Sure seems to me like this is fixed - working fine on my phone, a Pixel 3a XL, with Android 11, Chrome version 91.0.4472.120, and LastPass version 5.0.2.6724.
When I log into sites from Chrome, the LastPass drop-down appears. I authenticate with my finger print, then choose the login/password, which gets populated into the appropriate fields. Similar behavior is obtained when I authenticate LastPass from a non-Chrome app.
The keyboard integration isn't as snazzy as it could be, but I've been satisfied with the performance.
Same here, had the issue for over 7 months, Lastpass tech support is absolutely useless. As a developper myself, I've never encountered such a tiny bug that requires 1 year to be fixed, they obviously don't know how to fix it and are ignoring the issue until they see financial consequences. What a joke.
Honestly the issues OP is bringing up about fingerprint failing to authenticate isn't a LastPass issue at all. It's purely using the Android fingerprint API meaning the system (Android OS) is authenticating you. If it can't authenticate you that has nothing to do with the system. It means you would likely also have issues authenticating to unlock your phone or whatever else your system requires a fingerprint for.
That's not the case, though. My LastPass autofill has worked on and off for a while now, I've just dealt with it. I don't have issues unlocking my phone, or opening my bank app, or anything else that uses my facial recognition.
However, when I try to use the LastPass autofill in Chrome, sometimes it will just not work at all. I have to go into the LastPass app (which unlocks perfectly fine using my exact same face that I have), find the password I want, copy it (which triggers my facial recognition again and works just fine), then go back to my Chrome window and paste it in.
It's definitely a major hassle whenever it doesn't work, there's no doubt about that.
