autofill stopped working in Pixel Android Chrome browser

I have been using LastPass for several years with good success.  In the last week or so, the autofill popup stopped showing up when in Chrome. 

To test, I tried going to the same websites in Firefox, and the autofill popups/prompts showed up as expected.

I have tried clearing cache and storage in LastPass and reinstalling it, with no luck.

I am using a Pixel 5, Android version 12, Android security update December 5, 2021.  Chrome mobile version 96.0.4664.104.

I'm not certain exactly when this became an issue, but it may have started after the most recent Android update on the Pixel 5.

This suddenly started working correctly yesterday.  No changes on my end and no apparent recent updates to Chrome or Lastpass apps in Android.  I can't explain it.

Throughout the couple weeks that it was failing, Firefox and several other apps were still allowing autofill to work correctly with Lastpass.

I've been experiencing the same problem; I just submitted this as a support case (case ref 16719000):

The LastPass app (Chrome on Android) regularly doesn't autofill in login fields on Chrome. When you click on the username field or the password field for a website (that is saved in LastPass), the LastPass overlay doesn't appear. Clicking back and forth between the username and password fields doesn't do anything either. Clicking off the username and password field and onto the webpage, then back onto the fields doesn't do anything either. But, if you open the LastPass app, then copy the username, then go back to Chrome, click on the username field to paste it, the LastPass overlay will pop up. What's the point of this behaviour? LastPass overlay should display when I click on the username or password field the first time.

Please let us know what you find out.  I didn't do anything to fix mine (that I know of....tried a lot....nothing worked for days.....suddenly started working again), but it was a problem for a few weeks.  It would be nice to know if anyone figures out what's been going on.

Yeah, mine has started working again too, thankfully.
There was an Android update on 14 Jan to version 5.5.0. 7781. I'm guessing that fixed it.
