iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

I've recently changed my LastPass Master Password and now i can't use Touch ID to unlock the LastPass app on my iPhone.  It accepts my fingerprint and unlocks the vault for a second but then locks immediately again.  The only way to access the vault is to enter my password manually.  Any suggestions?

Re: iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

There was an update to the IOS app overnight which i've applied and it seems to have rectified the issue.

Re: iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

Hello,

Could you try uninstalling the LastPass app, restarting your device, then reinstalling and re-enabling TouchID in the LastPass app Settings > Security?

If that doesn't resolve the issue, could you check these additional settings as well?

  • In the LastPass app, go to Settings > Security
  • Make sure Lock Options is set to your preferred time between when the app will lock and require you to use Touch ID to unlock the app
  • Make sure Auto Logout is set to your preferred time for how often the app will fully log out and require you to type in your Master Password. This setting should be a longer time than the Lock Options setting, so for example if Lock Options is set to 1 hour then Auto Logout should be set to 8 hours

Re: iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have done as you said but still have the same problem.  I can still use it to fill passwords with Touch ID, but it just won't work when i try to open the app.

Re: iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

I am still having a problem with my Touch ID Auto Login off of my iphone.  Tried deinstalling Last Pass and checked that my IOS updates are indeed up to date.  I have enable the Auto Touch Log In and still when I open the app I get a prompt for my Master Password - this function was working recently but not know - I have flipped a query to Last Pass Support.  thanks

Re: iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

Hello,

Could you check these settings in the LastPass app to make sure they are to your preference?

In the app, tap Settings > Security > check that both "Lock Options" and "Auto Logout" are set to your desired time frame. The Lock Options dictates how long of a time period there will be before you need to re-authenticate with Touch ID, the Auto Logout setting dictates how long of a time period there will be before you are required to sign back in to the LastPass app fully with your username and master password. For example, if you want to only have to authenticate with Touch ID every 24 hours you would set Lock Options to 24 Hours and Auto Logout to Never.

Re: iOS Touch ID not working with LastPass

Works for me on iOS 14.4.2
Besides I noticed a nice touch in the LastPass app. It detects changes like a new fingerprint added to Touch ID and asks for the master password before enabling Touch ID again for LastPass app access.

Other apps, on the contrary, just accept the new fingerprint. That means: anyone who knows the iPhone’s passcode can add their own fingerprints and use them to access the apps. In such cases fingerprint is not an additional factor but just a quick replacement for passcode, so to speak. I noticed it even in some email apps and banking apps: if you know the passcode you can reset the fingerprints and the new fingerprints are immediately accepted.
Not so in LastPass.
